Zerb and JB from Hell, is it me or the J50BC is actually a REALLY Good metal pickup? With a tube amp it probably won't develop that much gain yeah. Too bad I hear it sounds **** without the midbost :yell: I wanted to put it on the model 1a.

:smack:
I liked it a lot in the Charvel with the mid-boost dimed, but didn't like it with the mid-boost turned all the way down. I still may drop it in one of my Kramers to check it out solo.

I had an Epiphone Goth V loaded with the Distortion set and the SPC knob (instead of a tone control) and it was a flamethrower! After having it dimed for awhile, the Distortion bridge sounded really weak without it :laugh2:

So the SPC works with passive pickups as well? Nice, I think I know what I'm heading for now... You liked it? Why'd you take it off?

How does the Invader sound with .09s tuned to E?

Mega-beefy no matter what guage you use, though there may be noticeable variations with different guages.

Well, just for you, I tuned up from D Standard (w/ .10-48, though) to E, and it sounds pretty damn good. Lots of punch, lots of balls. When ran through a crank amp, be prepared to see glass being shattered!

I didn't take it off... by "without it" I meant with the knob turned all the way down ;)

Also, I think all my guitars are getting active mid-boosts from now on.

Well, of course! I should have understood that. All guitars? Are you going with Jackson or EMG or what? Why?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm really interested in this subject and you seem to be one of the few guys who actually use these things. Thanks!

Re: Invader/Charvel

Whats a mid boost do if you are scooping the mids on your amp? I set bass and treb to 6oClock and the mid to 3.

Im thinking about replacing the tone knob on the tele for a booster. :P I want it to be a tele NOBODY suspects.

Well, I guess, now, really I suppose, that, it... boosts the mids?

If you like a sound (?) without mids, I'm not sure if you'd like the mid boost.

I think I need one of these pups. Also it looks like Woody Weatherman (COC)might be using one in the bridge. At least on the SG / Viper (?) he had in last months GW.

Hot, ballsy, chunky and fat. Muddyness isn't an issue for me with the invader at all, it just sounds HUGE through my set up.
