Invader in an Epiphone LP Jr?

My friend got an Epiphone Les Paul Jr a while and I suggested him to get an Invader pickup because it sounds good in my strat copy guitar.

It has a mahogany body and a maple neck, and I was wondering if it would sound good in that guitar.

He plays lead guitar in my pop punk band (I play rhythm) and in his free time he also plays a lot of music similar to The Devil Wears Prada, so he wants a dark, heavy sound.

Edit: Right now he plays through a Peavey ValveKing 100 half stack.

Only one way to find out for certain. :naughty:

It would help to know what amplification and/or pedals your friend uses.

I'm just guessing it could be a touch dark. But who cares - let it RAWK!

Re: Invader in an Epiphone LP Jr?

I would say get a Custom 5! I got great results with the C5 in an epi LP.
The guitar is probably all mahogany so it's dark from the start, the rest you dial in from the amp. I've heard plenty of good and bad stories about the Invader in a LP. It should be really fat sounding! A7X uses JB's and Invaders in mahogany axes and they have a great dark tone.

Now it's only a matter of time before the Alnico 8 mafia chimes in! :naughty:

Edit, whoops just noticed you said, maple neck... bolt on?

Re: Invader in an Epiphone LP Jr?

The Invader is a monster, I think it was designed to make that kind of guitars sound real fat. If it works in a squier... it should work in that epi as well and be a bit darker if the body is in fact mahogany... Then agian it could be total mud :D but it's easier to dial in more treble/ high mids. Thats what amp eq's are for.
Duncan still has the 21 day return policy? In case it doesn't work out you could still get something else.

Invader rules and his guitar only has a little amount of mahogany. Put heavy strings on that. Chugga chugga chugga.

Personally, I'd go with the Duncan Distortion, but hey, I like high end.
