So I want invader neck pickups but i have a FLOYD ROSE and havent found any invader pickups with f spaced.. Are they already F-spaced? and if they aren't how much of a difference will it make in sound?? I am dying to get these invaders. and suggestions that could be similar to invader neck pickups that are f spaced??

Re: INVADER NECK PICKUPS

the polepieces are so huge that f-spacing is irrelevant with the Invader. It can cover both F and G spacing.

In any case, neck pickups in any guitar do not need to be F spaced, only the bridge pickups need it (or not, in the case of the Invader)

Re: INVADER NECK PICKUPS

Perfect , thank you. I was just confused because the Dimarzio Liquifire neck pickup had an option for f spaced.

Re: INVADER NECK PICKUPS

The only time you need an F-spaced neck pickup is when you have extreme nut widths which cause the string spread at the neck pickup to be extra wide. Regardless, with the Invader, you don't really need an F-spaced version in either position, which is why a lot of us are confused about the new Syn Gates Invader having an F-spaced version.

Dimarzio does that because they know that some people like to play their neck pickups in the bridge. Lot's of their pickups work in both positions, the Liquifire is one of them

Re: INVADER NECK PICKUPS

Normal spacing works fine with Floyds, even with somewhat wide nut widths. It would have to be an extremely wide nut, like 1&7/8", to be an issue. 43mm like Ibanez & 1&11/16" like most US guitars works just fine with normal spaced neck pickups. Even with a super wide neck, although the poles might not line up, the magnetic field on a humbucker is wide enough that it is just a cosmetic issue; there is no E string drop out with humbuckers (unlike single coils).

Well, I did use the word "extreme". LOL

I thought the "Sinister Gates" () pickups cost more than regular Invaders. If so, I dont see the point.

Re: INVADER NECK PICKUPS

I know it should be with an "I" but i guess he thought it was cooler to spell it with a "Y"
is there really any difference in sound?

Oh yeah I know, I wasnt laughing at how you were spelling it. :)

You'll have to do a search for those pickups, I didn't take much notice of them when they came out but there's been a couple of threads here that should be able to help you out.

Re: INVADER NECK PICKUPS

So your gonna run a invader in the neck and a dimebucker in the bridge? :scratchch

I really get the feeling that your way over thinking this neck pickup thing. The invader can be a great pickup but it can also be a bit finicky. If your after soloing on the neck pickup something that sings and stings better might be more appropriate.

They have the colored caps rather than black. I think it'd be cheaper to get a couple invaders and then just replace the poles yourself. I think my hardware store sells chrome colored hex bolts.
