Invader vs Dimebucker

I have an Invader stock placed on my WR1 and I think that the dime would only give me some treble and cut out my mids, is that true?

Personally i prefer the Dime over the Invader (by a lot as well), but tastes can differ...
The Dime would give you more treble for sure, but keep in mind that i has some sort of scooped mids which some people can't stand, but personally i just LOVE the SH-13.

if you want to add some more cut but still have the balls to the wall tone
get the duncan distortion! it is the INVADER with more treble and less bass.
see these are the same pup in their wind, but the DD has the regular poles and one large ceramic magnet. nothing wrong with the DIME but the DD has more ROAR!

I like the Invader. They seem to have a more full bodied sound. You can always EQ frequencies out, it's harder to put them in if they're not there to begin with. Having said that, I will say the Dimebucker is a good sounding pickup in its own right.

what i suggest is instead of dumping the pup(invader) alltogether try a 1meg vol pot
this will give the pup more treble cut

I think that's a good idea.

I have a Dean Z Standard from about 1980 that has an Invader in the bridge. On a whim I bypassed the tone circuitry completely on this pickup and you wouldn't believe how amazing this guitar sounds. It makes the amp sound like it's going to explode. I realize that has nothing to do with this thread, I just wanted to share it!

well to what all you people are saying I will keep that superdistorted and full bodied Sevenfold mutes with my Invader. I surely don't wanna loose my bass and mids for they are a SD sound trademark

Welcome to the forum!

It really depends on what you want. If you like the Invader, but want a little bit more treble cut, installing a 1meg pot or bypassing the tone control will both brighten it up (as Sabotage and Hellion both pointed out), because the tone control bleeds some treble, and the higher resistance of the pot, the more treble it lets through.

If you're looking for a different character pickup with still good full chunky bass for palm mutes, you can't go wrong with the Distortion. It's really a great pickup, and will do "chugga-chugga."

From what I've heard the Dimebucker is also a great pickup, but I can't help you with that, since I've never used it.

I've always thought of the dime as a cross between the SH-8 and SH-6.

I prefer the Dime because you get a lot more definition under high gain situations.
It also holds together very well when you crank your amp.

Spoken like a guy who OWNES a Dimebucker himself! Can't agree more! The SH-13 seems a little underrated sometimes in my opinion...

I too have found that increasing the pot value gives your signal a kick in the pants!

I always say it gives the guitar a solid kick right in the nuts!!!!!!! :laugh2:

I never use a tone pot with passives(only active emg stuff)
i find that the duncan stuff really comes alive with no tone pots when shooting for a metal sound.
the tone seems to restrict the duncan metal type pups, like they are on a leash!

Well I will try that pot modification, bypassing the tone pot and I believe I will get that extra treble without loosing any mids or bass
