Invader with regular pole pieces?

Re: Invader with regular pole pieces?

There are some Invaders made for some guitar makers that have chrome or nickel plated screws and cream bobbins.

Re: Invader with regular pole pieces?

Another cool experiment that I don't believe I ever saw anyone do before:

P-bass pickup with Invader poles. Strange it made it punchier than the stock poles...

I should be patenting these ideas lol

Re: Invader with regular pole pieces?

The stainless steel posts that "may look cool" may not sound at all. Most stainless steel isn't ferromagnetic, so useless as a pickup pole screw.

I found this out early on maybe even before this thread was originated in 2004. There is a Stainless Steel alloy that is ferrous (18:8?), but probably still not useable for pickups FWIW. They would look cool though, you're right!

Re: Invader with regular pole pieces?

ive seen synesters pickups being advertised as chrome plated or chrome capped or something like that...but yeah, probably why he sounded so thin on city of evil. there new song however....the guitars sound HUGE!! im wondering if he either got a new amp or is using something different now.

Re: Invader with regular pole pieces?

I have tried stainless steel polepieces and they sound too bright. Nickel plated steel sounds better.

Re: Invader with regular pole pieces?

I know it's an old thread but why start a new one? (honestly I didn't see the dates)

what screws are in the invaders that dude from Avenged Sevenfold has? They're nice and shiny, might not look bad putting hexs in the front coil and putting on a chrome cover with the chrome (whatever they are) cap screws in on top of the cover for the back coil.

dont know how it would sound though...

Hey All,

Noob to the forum, but not Guitars.

These are the factory poles, I put them in a cordless drill, used a 150 grit foam sanding block to remove the black oxide, polished them with micro mesh pads, then clear coated them.

Are you pointing out that they're shiny?

Re: Invader with regular pole pieces?

I think they look cool. This thread is relevant because I'm installing an Invader in my HSS Squier Strat as we speak. :)

I really like the invader in most guitars the tone is totally dependent on the pick up after you install it but hey it's not a bad sound you do lose some of the guitars natural character

Re: Invader with regular pole pieces?

I really need to get a TB spaced Invader one of these days.

You don't need it to be trembucker spaced due to the huge poles. Kinda like a blade humbucker, they don't care about your string spacing. Drop it in and rock out. In fact, I don't think they even make a TB-8.

Yes, they make a TB-8 now.

Had an SH-8 in a Telecaster, had to angle it just right to get the low E to not have a volume dropout.

If it was about cosmetics, there wouldn't be any TB/F-Spaced pickups, people wouldn't have angled the bridge humbucker in the 80s, and adjusting pole pieces wouldn't make that much of a difference.

Re: Invader with regular pole pieces?

I has one of these in a tom delonge stratocaster. No issues. I'd put another one in another guitar if I could.
