Iommi Pickups

Anyone use these? I put a set in a Gibson SG Supreme. It came with 57 Classics. Compared to the classics it just blows them away and makes the classics sound really muddy.

I left all the electronics the same. However, in comparison to some of my other guitars with Suhr Aldridge pickups, and SD JB's the Iommi sounds good but a bit dark.

Any way to bring a little sparkle to it maybe?

Re: Iommi Pickups

They say you can flip the wires. Which I was going to try. I thought they have 500 K pots with 57's but will double check... good point.. If not would 1m pot help?

Oh for polarity/phase type thing? You know that's one of the things about Gibson that sucks the most. They are SOOOOOOOO vague in everything.... I mean come on..... they have more info on there products. They just won't put it out there!

But on the pickups they say you can use either wire as the hot... NEVER heard of that one..... but thought I might try it...

The pickups do sound good.... they have a very chunky sound that is well.... very "metal" sounding.... like I was saying it's just a bit too dark.... start makes amp adjustments, then everything else has issues!

Re: Iommi Pickups

I have a friend who has them in his Iommi SG. They sound great. Are your pots 500k?
Caps? Good soldering?

Re: Iommi Pickups

There were no markings on the pot. It read 1/2 the value of a pot that I knew was a 500. I put that in and that was the trick.
Thanks!

Had a funny feeling that was the problem. Enjoy your guitar!
