Iommi SG trade

Recently I have gotten an offer on my vox valvetronix for a trade, It's an EPI Iommi LH, I am tempted to take it but you guys think that's really a fair trade for a 100 wt valvetronix?

Re: Iommi SG trade

If its got those Gibson Tony Iommi pups, fo sho.

Those Tony Iommi pups are worth it alone. Great pups, especially for de-tuned stuff.

Re: Iommi SG trade

I have a righty Epi Iommi. The tone is tight and concentrated Dio era ala Neon Knights, rather than the early looser, less driven Sabs. If you have a thumpy amp, it'll sound nice.

Iommis do not have a "big round ass" like other pickups, The bottom is tight. The eq of the amp on the bottom makes a difference.

Re: Iommi SG trade

The Epi Iommi having Gibson USA TI signature pickups is like somebody already customised it. For maximum R 'n' R, add Triple Shot mounting surrounds and USA control pots.

Meanwhile, L-H-S, could I interest you in a pre-owned, left-handed, Gibson USA Tony Iommi humbucker, "reliced" gold finish? :D

Re: Iommi SG trade

I had 2 iommi's at one time, one of the best sounding metal guitars. I now have a Gibson SG that I like a bit better:) but still the iommi rocks!

Re: Iommi SG trade

My Gibson SG Faded is loaded with a pair of the Gibson Iommi pups.

Trust me, it works really well, especially on de-tuned stuff. I have this SG tuned to C#. You get a super heavy bottom end thats never muddy. Hi end is a perfect match for Sabbath leads.

Re: Iommi SG trade

I do have one scuffed up, gold-plated Gibson Iommi humbucker in my parts drawer. It isn't really left handed but it does make the kinds of sounds described in earlier posts. I was thinking to install the pickup in my brother's late Eighties Epiphone-by-Gibson Sheraton II via a Triple Shot mounting surround.

EDIT: Belay that order. I just landed myself a pre-owned 2004 Epiphone Lucille. If I install my Gibson Iommi HB into that, I'll be even louder than Astrozombie's ES-333! :biglaugh:

Actually, mine is one of the first run of SG Faded's that came with cresent moon inlays on an ebony fretboard. Later on they switched to dots on rosewood.

Big +1.
