Hovercraft seems to be making some nice gear at good prices. I like the specs of the "Falcon" design - 6L6 based, 50 watter, two channel, footswitchable.

Does anyone have experience with one of these? I have heard they bear some resemblance to the matamp/greenamp/electric amp lineage. I like the idea of a big fuzzy drive channel and nice cleans, simple, durable and relatively inexpensive.

I do not NEED this amp, of course. But having a solid backup to my 5:50+ would be cool.

They sound awesome.

It's worth knowing that they're not rebuilt but modded. From what I've heard, they take the guts of the donor amp (mostly Jet Citys and some Peaveys) including circuit board, chassis, and transformers, and mod them to get Hovercraft tone. It's not a knock per se, just worth knowing.

If I was still in my doom band I would probably have bought one by now.

The guys' name is Niall and he usually builds from the used chassis up. He's a certifiable awesome guy. Friend them on Facebook and make every day a struggle with willpower; you can get a D20 for 550 stripped down.

Yea, he's also nuts. I'm pretty sure. Whatever, his amps are spank material for me. I would already have one if I had any money whatsoever.

Man I saw some peanut butter on a tortilla on his page with something else horrible on it. Look at it this way, if the dude is eating stuff like that he is probably walking the walk when it comes to "stoner" amps! :-p

Jet Citys are supposed to be pretty good for imports right? Aren't they designed by Soldano? That's a pretty good base to build on.

The penut butter tortilla with corn chips and siracha with a side of god knows what else seems to be his favorite.

I remember something like a nutella/sriracha/cap'n crunch on banana in a tortilla once. One of the last ones had gummi bears in it.

I walk the walk but my munchies never gave me the impetus to concoct something that revolting.

I'm sorry I missed that one. Could you imagine him inviting a would-be concubine over to his pad for a romantic home cooked meal?

She shows up expecting Chicken Marsala or something and is greeted with sunflower petals with mayo and ranch Dorito's on a ciabatta with a plastic cup of toilet hooch for a smooth finish.

As someone who has eaten a Baloney Bowl, I am not really in a position to judge; but gummi bears on a taco is not right.
