Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

Personally I think Randy Rhoads was a much more appealing musician than Van Halen. Very tasteful player with an appealing style and a real gem of a guy. Plus his guitars weren't ugly like Eddies are.

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

He is dead and his tone was horrible:D
Personally I think Eddie is much more fun....
Lol but personally it is all good I guess:D
That Jackson was ugly......by the way...one mans ugly is another mans not as ugly...hehe

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

Granted Randy's tone was kinda buzzy on the Blizzard of Ozz album his tone is fantastic on Diary of a Madman. Musically he was superior to Van Halen. Eddie needs to learn how to play in tune first.

And his guitars are downright atrocious looking.

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

Maybe now Eddie's thinking 'Hey...we won't sue them for D/L Our music from the internet, or Watching our awesome clips on you tube for nothing (apart from Bandwidth) but you can play our gear for TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!! YOU LIKE THAT HUH!!! YOUR A FAN ARE YOU?! PROVE IT!

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

i know..they are just trying to make money. To live the dream!!!

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

supply and demand, only 100 or so were made (and I'm fairly certain they've all been bought up a year and a half ago)

it's not to play, it's for moguls to hang on the wall behind glass. But if I had 25 Gs I would buy it and play it, at least at home in the studio. I loved it in the store when I played it. Like religiously loved it, but still loved it.

still waiting for someone to talk about the actual EVH Wolfgang guitar. It's pretty phenomenal.

welp, done with this thread and its ignore-list worthy faction of folks who opine meritlessly; carry on then

my uncle Irving prefers his new dentist

trollicious! Is this Harmony Central? What a "fact" to have laid upon us

true, except they're not. You are a pistol! Maybe a revolver. Spinning around and around...look mama, there's an airplane up in the sky.

:facepalm of death: 3 demerits for these opinions you've spent time fostering as Martha Stewart tends a well-nurtured garden - a garden of joy, a garden of being able to back that crap up with anything substantive.

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

I've seen tons of pro's (Vai, ,Petrucci, etc) use the EVH pedals in their rigs (Flange, phaser, etc).

Yes they cost a bit more but from what I've seen almost all of his stuff is pretty dang good quality and sound good.

Name one crap EVH product?

The only one I question is the Wah pedal, that is the ultimate cash grab.

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

I own a EB/MM Axis, EVH Phase 90 and EVH Flanger- I bought them not because of EVH, but because they were the best items out there.

I like the 5150 III amp, but it is too much that I can justify spending. The EVH Wah- it's good, but the market is flooded with wahs.

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

Ed's earned the right to make money from the various signature products that he's endorsing. He changed the way that a ton of people play and the sort of gear (guitars, amps, etc.) that are played and produced. The simple solution is if someone thinks Ed is "all about the money", then don't buy the product. However, if someone likes the product and feels that the value is there, then enjoy it and make music or, in the case of the sneakers, wear 'em around.

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

Ed's over 50. Everyone's gotta plan for their retirement.

Like with others here, the EVH products are a little more pricey than I can afford or justify paying. But I've never read anything but positive reviews for them. I'd love to have the amp for my home studio.

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

Well I see it this way...

Buying an EVH guitar for thousands of dollars defeats the purpose and the spirit of what Ed was all about in the beginning. Sure we don't all have the know how, or time to wind our own pickups (thats what the SD Custom Shop is for right? ;) ) and if you wanna buy that new EVH guitar go ahead I don't have a problem with it at all, enjoy it and rock out! but putting your own EVH guitar together is an awesome feeling. I've wanted an EVH axe for a while, but I didn't have $3000 to spend on a EVH Art Series Charvel...and I love the Kramer 5150 so I started my search, and questions and with the help of the many nice folks on Kramer Forum, Warren @ Southeast Guitars, Scott @ Customwoods necks and especially Mike from vintagekramer.com who painted it for me etc. I got what I was after.

I have an EVH MXR Flanger and its top notch so I have bought his signature stuff and like it but I just wanted that flanger.

By the way, the 5150 was a Pacer Special body not a Baretta but anyways here's a good picture of the No Bozo's Baretta you guys were talking about earlier....

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

I like Randy more than Eddie just because he seemed more like a musician. Eddie just wanted to have fun. Randy purposely made his tone like that on Blizzard. It was HIS tone and you recogonize it right away. Like one person kind of said earlier one man's ugly is anothers beauty.

I read an article in GP magazine that said the person building EVHs MusicMan guitar was requested by EVH to try out 94 different pickups! Has he ever heard of magnet swapping? lol

Re: Is eddie just linihg his pockets with the EVH products?

... I don't see why Ed's being chastised for offering a "premium priced" signature collector guitar. It's obviously not meant for the average musican to buy... just as PRS "Dragon$" aren't made for us mere mortals to purchase.

Ed's amp, and his signature effects - pricey... but so what? Vai's Jems/Universes have been selling at $2.5k/$3K for almost twenty years w/ no complaints... same w/ his Legacy amps (though somewhat more "affordable") for about 10 years. Steve's now shilling for his Ibanez Jemini distortion... it's basically a TubeScreamer and a Boss DS-1... both pedals bought together wouldn't co$t half as much the what the Jemini is selling for single hand. I luv Vai - hope he sells a bunch more stuff. Same w/ Ed. But it seems people just want to blame Ed for everything. Maybe it's because Ed got to see Valerie Bertinelli buck nekkid on a regular basis and they didn't. :banghead:
