Is Engl Raider voiced the similar to Engl Thunder Reverb

Re: Is Engl Raider voiced the similar to Engl Thunder Reverb

Dude, if you like solidstate, get solidstate. Just because everyone says tubes are better, doesn't mean it is for the tone you're trying to achieve. I have several tube amps & preamps, and my current favorite is the ENGL E430 preamp into an old '80s Randall solidstate power amp. The cleans are nice and the gain is killer. Great for thrash! That said, it doesn't offer what tubes do, which is a nice sag and warmth, but when it comes to thrash, I don't want those.

So if a solidstate preamp into a tube power amp is what floats your boat, stay with it. I'm running the opposite (tube preamp into solidstate power amp) and love it! Eff the man and his rules for tone!

Yeah, some kind of solid state is what I'm thinking for the high gain tones, while using a separate tube preamp for the clean and overdrive tones. Since reading your praises about the E430 in my other thread, I've been checking Feebay and GC Used for one. Thanks!

Good luck on your hunt! One just sold on eBay two weeks ago. Prior to that, the last one listed was a year and a half to two years ago. They are rare and don't pop up often since ENGL discontinued them. Though like I said in the other thread, the E530 is suppose to be the same, just in rack format.
