Peavey Invective: Why is it not in the discussion?

The invective is a great amp indeed. It flat rips! Has some great features as well.
A lot of Peavey amps are really great! I've owned a couple 6505s, the mh, an XXL, a JSX, and a handful of older combos, big and small.... They all were good to great!

I think the invective was toooo dang expensive from the get go. Nobody wants to shell out that kind of money to have the Peavey logo on the front. Regardless of how great it sounds.
...IMO that is.

Also, I never really got any idea they were marketing that amp.... Never see or hear about it very much at all. I think they're marketing game is weak.

The shared EQ sucks!

It's too bad, I love Peavey amps..... I may get one when all these prices come back down from the high heavens.....

The Triple XXX absolutely crushed my 5150ii. When I was playing a stereo rig, my 5150ii took a backseat to the X. I hate the trucker mudflap girls and the eq control labeling was so lame. But that amp was a monster.

I’ve tried the invective a few times in the store and I really wasn’t super impressed. Bought one, I thought it sounded better than the 5150ii, the original 5150, and the 6505+ I owned at the time, however it got swallowed up by the XXX.

And when I compared it to a (50w) EVH 5150iii, the invective didn’t really sound that great. I think, for my money, the 5150iii is more useably versatile, and more fun to play with, compared to the invective. I should add, I mostly played all of them through an orange ppc412 or a Marshall 1960b all stock except the added center bracing.

I do disagree with the sentiment about periphery. I think Misha is one of the best guys to get on your roster to make a signature amp. Unfortunately for peavey, that dude mostly plays a modeler.
