Is it Legal to disassemble guitars and sell the parts?

Re: Is it Legal to disassemble guitars and sell the parts?

If it becomes regular income wouldn't you have to pay tax on it?

Ed Roman does this all the time, no problem

I read something not too long ago that the IRS was going to or already is auditing Ebay in an attempt to find people who are not reporting profit from auction sales as income.

Can't see why not. People have been doing it with cars for years. Why not guitars?

There's a dude in the Trading Post named DavidD.....seems like this is what he does. He sells parts galore.

I don't see a problem with it at all, BUT......

A guy only has say, $500.00. He buys a MIM Strat in Sunburst, but it has a rosewood neck.......He wanted maple.

A month goes by, he sees a nice MIA Strat neck in maple....score!!!

NOW...........a year goes by & he wants to sell this to move on up to, say a Gibson Les Paul.

He puts it up on the "Bay"......who's responsiblity is it to come clean???

I see guys buying Strats, Teles...all bolt-ons & no one seems to ask if it's ALL-American.
