Is it OK for superswitches to touch?

Folks-
I've got the parts for my p90 mahogany project that has two 5 way superswitches- I just realized that I have slightly less real estate than I expected- I've found a way to get the switches in but they will end up touching 'axels' back to back-

I'm hoping it's not a problem but if I try to separte them with tape I expect the tape will shift over time-

But the axels are on the ground side of the circuit aren't they? If so I might end up with an additional ground loop but am I correct in thinking that it's likely not to be a problem?

Thanls for you input!

Re: Is it OK for superswitches to touch?

I don't think the axles themselves are part of the signal loop (if anything, they are grounded). But then again, I'm not completely familiar with superswitches.

I have a question of my own... why on earth would you need 2 super switches?

Re: Is it OK for superswitches to touch?

Thanks Mike- Hoping you are correct!

Hoping for Ginder or Febson kind of sound that I've only been able to get in pieces before and if it's noise reduced so much the better:) Mahagoney bodywiht maple neck with 2 P90s and a cool rails in the middle-

Most of the time the two 5ways will move in tandem, but these are all combinations I have wanted at one time or another and I may very well move some of these later to keep the best combinations right next to each other.

Position 1
Sw1 Sw2
P90 bridge | Hum reducing coil from cool rail

Position 2
P90 Bridge and P90 neck in parallel | Cool rails off

Positon 3
P90 Bridge and neck series | Cool rails on both rails parallel

Position 4
P90s off | Cool rails in series on both coils (with spin a split)

Position 5
Neck p90 | Hum reducing coil from cool rail

Re: Is it OK for superswitches to touch?

Wow, that's a lot of different combinations (25 to be exact). I had no idea there was a cool rails in teh equation, either. Good luck with that. I admire the patience it's going to take to wire that up.

Should be an interesting guitar.

Re: Is it OK for superswitches to touch?

Yep, trying to plan to only wire once, but trying to keep the most used combinations in tandem- There's aways a chance I'll find some of those odd combintaitons more useful, so making sure I can get easy access in case I decide to switch them off-

Thx again for input-
