Is it ok???

Hello I'm a new member of this forum, I'm from Italy (exuse me for my uncorrect language, but I'v start to study english 2 years ago). This is my question vor you: I'm trying to customize my mexican stratocaster with floyd roseII bridge and I want to change the bridge PU with a seymuor duncan distortion (I often play hard-rock of AC/DC and G n' R, metal of Metallica, Children of Bodom, Pantera, Sepultura and some others, but I play SRV's and Hendrix's blues). Do you think It's a right choise???

P.S. I play my guitar with a marshall head 2555 silver jubilee.

Thank you ;-)

Re: Is it ok???

welcome to the forum metalgirl!!
thats a nice amp you have.
i think a duncan distortion would be good in the bridge position, very crunchy and high output. it will work well for the harder styles.

i might put a ssl1 vintage staggered strat pup in the neck to get those srv and hendrix blues tones

Re: Is it ok???

Hi Metalgirl:

Welcome! Jeremy offers a good suggestion. Just make sure you get the Trembucker-spaced version of the Duncan Distortion, called the "TB-6."

Re: Is it ok???

Hey Metalgirl, welcome to the forum! I agree with Evan and Jeremy on both counts. The distortion will definitely do what you want for the harder stufff. It won't do the Hendrix or SRV that well though, especially being it is a humbucker. You could go with a set of singles for the neck and middle if you've got the extra money to put into the guitar. I would see about getting a push pull pot where I could use the the Distortion in single mode, it will give you more flexibiltiy.

Re: Is it ok???

Sh-6 = Standard spaced Distortion.
TB-6 = Trembucker spaced Distortion.

As a huge Children of Bodom and Sepultura fan, I can vouch for the Distortion. Best metal pickup I've played, ever. Tight lows, crunchy mids, screaming highs, great output.

yeah, I'd go with a Distortion. that will sound killer with a 2555.

avete bisogno di questo - TB 6

se usate questo, le stringhe allineeranno correttamente sopra i magneti piccoli del

se usate questo - SH6, le stringhe non si allineeranno sopra i magneti piccoli

Re: Is it ok???

Metalgirl, I play through a 2555SL also and i can say that the TB-6 will be a great choice for that amp and also you style of music.

Re: Is it ok???

Thank you guys, my lasts decision is the TB6!!!

P.S. if you want contact me there's my MSN contact on my profile (I would write more english because I must go in America this summer and I don't want to be the "ignorant girl from Italy":9:)

Re: Is it ok???

If you're going to go with the Distortion in the bridge, I'd say to go with SSL-5's in the neck and middle. They're great for SRV stuff, and despite what the other folks say, I had absolutly no problem getting a nice vintage strat sound out of them. Or, if you want to go all out, get the tapped versions, and add some special switching into that.

You won't be perceived like that at all. Especially not in the South where hospitality is legendary! Most people here, if they have a second language, know spanish. So it could make for a few small problems.
