Is it possible to convert a hard tail to Floyd?

I'm fairly sure that it's not that hard to route the body, but what about the neck? Can you just replace the nut?

I'd be having someone dot his for me of course and I have no experience with woodworking

It should be possible. Honestly, I wouldnt do it if it were my guitar. I would probally just unload the guitar and buy a nice Floyd axe with the money the guitar brought in and the cost it would take to do the work.

It´s not too hard, the neck has to be modified with a ledge for the OFR nut (unless you decide to use a Graphite nut and Locking tuners a lá Carvin).

But like Odie I´d want to be REALLY sure that i want that Floyd on THIS guitar.... But I´d probably alsojust buy one with a good floyd.... ;)

You can get an import guitar with a cheap Floyd for anot cheaper, then if you want to upgrade it to an original Floyd later on you can do so.

That's what I would do. You'll get lower action on a guitar designed for a Floyd than one later retrofitted

I don´t know where you read or heard this, but the type of bridge makes zero difference in action.... If you know how to set up a guitar properly you can get the same action from a Floyd, TOM or Strat bridge....

This is correct!

HIJACK: whats a good floyd axe anyways? I've been looknig for them and its either crap or expensive. The only one I found for a reasonable price was the schecter C-1 FR but that's never on ebay and I really want one :smack: I thought about piecing together one of of a charvel body but that would cost as much as a C-1 FR practically.

You can get a Jackson SL-4 or possibly a SL-3 off of Ebay for the $500 range! I LOVE my SL-4! Schecters and import Brian Moores are not that bad for the money either. Both are Korean made I belive and are usually quality! Probally the same factory?????

Japanese, the only Korean Jacksons are the short lived mid ´90s Performer series... The Schecter and Moore are made by Samick in Korea AFAIK ;)

As far as the SL-3: used off eBay may be cheaper, but a used one will still have the JT-580LP trem, which is ok.... but the 2k6 model will have an Original Floyd ;)

I know bro, I was taking about the Korean Brian Moores and Schecters!

I know the Jackson will have a licensed trem but, its still a decent and solid Floyd axe without breaking the bank!!!!!!

I hve an idea on what I'm gonan do now

I think I am gonna have this gutar routed for a Strat, put the current neck on myo ther strat (I love this neck) And get another neck made by Warmoth to these specifications with a Floyd nut So I'll have two necks like this one. But one with a Floyd
