Is it possible to wire without any pots??

Re: Is it possible to wire without any pots??

Quick question, BriGuy1968, what did you use to create the wiring diagram? I couldn't seem to find anything like that, so I resorted to Paint.

I use a program called ExpresSCH, which is a freeware program that comes along with another freeware program called ExpressPCB. Brandenburg turned me onto it, and it works great. Only bummer is that you have to design all your own components.

The program itself only does black, so I use "Paint" to add color.

Hmmm... maybe. Let me think about that a little bit. [emoji6]

Okay jacksen, I have something for you... sort of.

I used your 3-way 4PDT to give you normal operation on one side, blower (bypassing the coil splits) on the other, and a kill switch in the middle. Here's the problem: the kill switch might give you feedback hum when engaged because the hot is just disconnected instead of being connected to ground and completing the circuit. If the store you purchased the On/Off/On switch has an On/ON/On switch you could exchange it for, we could make that work flawlessly.

Anyway, here it is...

What specifically didn't work?

Also, are you able to provide some clear pics of the wiring inside your control cavity?

Artie Too made me aware of NeoPaint that he uses to draw his diagrams.

It's not a freeby though there is a trial download.

No sound at all
Here it is..minus bridge ground wire and red white wires to the coil tap

Hi jacksen,

First I want to apologize for taking so long to respond. It's been a very hectic past few days and I just haven't had a moment to sit down and examine your issue. If I were in your place, I'd be sitting here waiting anxiously for a reply so I could get my guitar going again, and I'm sorry for putting you through that! :boggled:

I double and triple checked my diagram, and I still think it will work. I took a look at your picture and I see two potential issues. The first one is I'm wondering what this "mystery orange wire" is coming from the blower switch toward the wires coming from the jack. I can't see what it's connected to, but I'm fairly certain it doesn't belong there. If the other end of this wire is touching ground, then it would completely negate the entire circuit, causing no sound whatsoever:

The second is on the toggle. I don't see it causing "no sound," but it could cause the bridge pickup to be in a state of "always on" if it causes the two poles to touch one another:

Beyond these two things, I would suggest using a multimeter (if you have access to one) to start systematically testing your connections starting with the hot from the output jack and moving through the circuit to see if there is anything disconnected.

Keep me informed about how things go... I really want to make sure that this works out for you! :D

Oh, jacksen, I'm so sorry to hear that! Take all the time you need, of course... I'll still be around!

And don't let it ruin your Christmas... yeah, it sucks, but you can still celebrate the Reason for the season even in the middle of hardship. Thank God that YOU'RE okay! My family will say some prayers for yours... have a Merry Christmas! [emoji2][emoji847][emoji319]

Hello Sir
First of all..I'm sorry for so-long reply
I got married, moved to new house etc etc lol :D
So I did this wiring today..and yeah..I also got on on on 4pdt
Here the results are
- 'blower position' didn't bypass the 3 way toggle switch
- 'normal position' works perfectly with the coil split
- 'killswitch position' not working..it makes this configuration just like normal 2 humbuckers + 3 way toggle, coil split is not working in this position

How about we change the on-on-on 4pdt?
Can you make it coil split-normal-blower and the on-on dpdt is the killswitch ??
I hope you can understand my English :D
Thank you before Sir

Re: Is it possible to wire without any pots??

Yeah, I think you'd have no problem with an Invader set with no pots. It won't be shrill at all. In fact, it might help the tone for certain kinds of music. I was wondering, though...why no pots?
