Is it possible....

Is it possible to wire up two single coils in the bridge position like a humbucker?
A friend of mine asked and I didn't really have an answer.
Maybe one of you guys do. Any help would be awesome.

In fact, it would be so awesome and I could put it in a bottle and call it awesome sauce.

Rock on.

Yeah, but if you want them humbucking, you'd wire them in series and out of phase. This probably would require a phase switch on one of the pickups, which means it would have to be a 4-wire model, I believe. I'd rather just find a humbucker I liked and go with that.

Yes, it's possible. I did it in my strat for a while... looked like this:

Just make sure you use one regular single and one RWRP. Those are just the neck and middle single coils from that strat. Mine sounded pretty good - bright, and kind of hot. It was pretty prone to feedback though. I don't know why really. Probably some lack of wax-potting.
Wiring is just like a humbucker: wire them in series (hot of one to ground of the other, then just treat the other two like the actual hot and ground wire.)

Re: Is it possible....

thanks for all the help, guys!
You guys have the answer to every pickup question out there!
