Is it safe to run a Lava Box on 18 volts?

Does anyone have experience running a Lava Box on 18 volts? It's been over a week since I emailed tech support. I'd like to try plugging my 18 volt adaptor into it but only if someone has experience doing it and knows it won't fry the circuitry.

Thanks!

I would not try it. It was designed and released before I got there and I do not recall, but none of the SD pedals ever released were designed to handle 18v. Or at least wait for customer service to reply. They will have asked the engineering department.

The pedals that take 9 or 18 volts are somewhat rare and labeled 9-18v near the adapter

If you have a pedal that does not have 9-18v near the adapter jack... it doesn't accept 18 volts.

Thats not always true...there are lots of pedals out there that say 9 volts but will easily handle 12 and/or 18.

That said the Lava box is more than likely not one of them!

I read somewhere that the old BOSS ACA adapters could provide some of their more power hungry pedals that they made in the 80's with up to 12 volts if they needed it? I don't know if it's true or not, but I did read it on the internet.

The BOSS ACA Adapters are unregulated 12v adaptors but all those pedal had step down circuits to knock them down to 9v for the actual pedal, and they will work normally on a daisy chain at 9v regulated (PSA or similar with a daisy chain).

They won't always mark them that way. I found out that the MXR Distortion III can easily run off of one of my 18 volt adaptors. I emailed their tech support and they replied back to me within 24 hours. I have been running it at 18v ever since. I would recommend that anyone with a Distortion III give it a try - sounds amazing!
But if anyone is thinking of trying that with their Krank Distortus Maximus, DON'T! I found out the hard way and now I'm stuck with an expensive paper weight.
Anyway, I hope to hear a definitive answer soon about the Lava Box.
