Is My Daddio crazy?

Re: Is My Daddio crazy?

I would run it Hot Rails / Hot Rails / Diablo with the normal Volume / Tone / Tone setup...first Tone controls the neck Hot Rails and the second one controls el Diablo...

Probably be twice as hot and plenty dark for anything you'd ever wanna do. My next SG project might get el Diablo in the bridge with a Phat Cat or P-Rails in the neck...modern metal sludge in the bridge and vintage Sabbath goodness in the neck :smokin:

Re: Is My Daddio crazy?

For the record: Yes your dad is nuts. And we wouldn´t want it any other way :beerchug:

Considering he wants the guitar to be brutal and ugly from what I understand, the proposed setup should work fine. I would also consider the Scott Ian "El Diablo" in the bridge or an Invader, depending on what exactly he´s looking for. Duncan Custom is great, but I don´t think it´s psychotic enough for him... "Dark, Chunky and Ballsy" is definitely more Invader /El Diablo style than anything else... ;)

.. But he says he wants it to be "Blacker then the blackest black time infinity".

AAAAH, Monster is also a Dethklok fan, wonderful :headbang:

Re: Is My Daddio crazy?

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the great info. Daddio likes the idea of the Scott Ian "El Diablo"! And yes Pops and myself are both Dethklok fans! He took me to see them with Mastodon at the Hollywood Palladium. Now with the El Diablo should he put Hot Rails in both neck and middle or a Cool Rails in the middle. Remember He wants it to melt faces. Side note check out the name of the pub in the "Fatherklok" episode of Dethklok.

Re: Is My Daddio crazy?

^^ Cool Rails is cooler than Hot Rails. Use it if you want to stop melting faces every now and then...or if you just want something different...

Since the pickups are only gonna affect eachother when they're on at the same time, you really only have to worry about the 2 and 4 positions...so the middle pickup should THEORETICALLY be a pickup that blends equally well with the Hot Rails neck and el Diablo bridge...i dunno if that's the Cool Rails or if that's something for a series of huge controversial threads that divides the forum but...

since we're talking the face-meltingest facemelter ever, i would just do two Hot Rails and el Diablo...or just put three el Diablos in there, i mean why not?

Three El Diablo's NOW thats an idea! That poor Strat won't know what hit it. You gotta love it when Bass players get crazy ideas for guitars. God bless my Daddio!

Re: Is My Daddio crazy?

Hey SOM. I talked to your dad yesterday and he told me that you're getting all kinds of crazy tone knowledge from this forum. That's the secret indoctrination program we're running here at the SDUGF. You hang out with your on-line bros talking about tone, and next thing y'know, you're a Tone Monster yourself.

I think if your dad ever registers on this forum, his nick should be Daddio_of_Monster.

Re: Is My Daddio crazy?

Hi Evan,
Yes, I am finding out all kinds of knowledge here! And whats really cool is I can tell me friends about things I've found out about here ( I told them to log on). Daddio tried once to register here once but because I used the their email address, it won't let him use it. Any ideas?

That is a relatively common problem with a lot of internet database design these days based on the (bad) assumption that everyone has their own email account. The one work around that I know of that does not require the existing database to be modified is to get a free email address (hotmail etc) then use that to set up a new user account. Set the free email address to autoforward everything to your main email account in case you get PMs.

Get Daddio a free hotmail account, gmail, or yahoo or whatever so he can sign up.
