Is my guitar cursed?

OK, some of you know that I picked up Washburn 335 copy. I had my luthier install "Dimarzio" PAF claissics and I've been playing it for a while.

It was the 6th day from the day I got the guitar from my luther.

The strap got lose and I drop the guitar on the carpet. The plug of the guitar cable connected to the jack hit the carpet first and pushed the jack into the guitar, craking surrounding woods.

Do you think this is the curse of "D"? ....

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

Was it the 6th hour and the 6th minute as well? By the way it's going to cost you $666 to get it fixed :saeek:

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

strap locks, strap locks, STRAP LOCKS. I have them on all of my guitars, $15 for the schallers is a lot cheaper than repairs.

I know this doesn't help in hindsight, but maybe a good word of advice/warning for those that read this and don't think strap locks are a big deal.

+1 Gotta have strap locks!!!

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

My condolences man.
I know the feeling. I ruined my telecaster SD pickup the other day by stabbing it with a razor blade - (WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!)

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

sorry to hear it brisk .. i hope the repairs go smoothly and as inexpensively as possible

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

:alcoholic Brisk's been drinking that Soju :alcoholic

Really though that sucks Brisk. You should be more careful.

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

Is the jack on the side or front of that guitar? Putting it on the front is the dumbest design blunder ever. I think Washburn put it on the side, to avoid cracking the top if you accidentally step on the cord. Unfortunately, the only way of messing up your guitar's jack was accomplished. Oh well....just be glad it wasn't a Historic 335.

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

Yah, gotta have strap locks.

I use a locking strap, but my actual fixture on the guitar is stock.

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

strap locks are a must!! i can not stress that enough, alot of my friends don't use strap locks and its an accident waiting to happen

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

+1 for straplocks. Sorry for you but you shoud really get them. i have them an all of my guitars because i'm way too scared of droping any of my riches and breaking a spike of or something like that. And yes i think your guitar is cursed like hell.

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

Straplocks - $14.99 plus tax at your local music dealer

Repairing a cracked top and an inupt jack from an accident that the $14.99 straplocks could have prevented - $100-300 depending on which luthier you go to.

GET SOME STRAPLOCKS!! NOWWW!! Before that gorgeous Les Paul you have gets hurt too! I consider straplocks to me absolutely mandatory on all my guitars.

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

i don't use strap locks, yet, my next guitar will have them. on my teles and strats i use a small black rubber washer that works really well. they are less that 49 cents.

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

i dont use strap locks, instead i get a washer and sandwich the strap between it and the nut. But thats only on my ibanez.

My advice is never to take your left hand off the neck. I dont like strap-locks.

Re: Is my guitar cursed?

You know what I've found works almost as well as straplocks, but looks way cooler? Fender bass string trees (the round kind). I know it sounds dumb, but they're quite effective and stylish.

i use the schallers too.. i bought a bass and it had those dimarzio cliplocks on (where they're screwed in)... never again. hated it, it doesnt feel like its a real strap.. and it dosent go down low enough :laugh2:
