Is nothing sacred?

Re: Is nothing sacred?

They need to rethink their marketing! A pedal to sound like a very idiosyncratic guitar? It would be interesting if it gave a good approximation of some of his unique distorted tones. But a pedal to sound like a guitar?

Re: Is nothing sacred?

I haven't heard it, but the Hendrix and Clapton pedals were pretty damn good. I mean good enough to use as a Digital Fuzz or Octavia let alone have all those features.

Drawback? You can't flip thru sounds on the fly. I guess a rackmount is next.

Re: Is nothing sacred?

Never liked the Hendrix or Clapton pedals. And the Brian May loses another point-- no Somebody to Love solo?

Re: Is nothing sacred?

I think this entire concept is ridiculous, frankly. They've invented their Production Modelling technology which is cool, but they've overused it so much... Clapton's Crossroads pedal, Hendrix's Experience pedal, Dan Donegan's The Weapon, Scott Ian's Black-13, and now THIS?! Disgusting.

That said I might be a little curious in trying one out, though I won't go out of my way to do so.

they sell an optional footswitch that allows you to flip through the sounds available without having to change it by hand, they covered that base :)

Re: Is nothing sacred?

Buy one of these pedals 5 years from now for less than 1/2 price...then sell it on fleabay for ten times the price ten years later! God forbid the manufactuer should change anything about the design or color, as this will increase the value even more.:smack:

You got that right!

Re: Is nothing sacred?

They seem to be playing on both older guitar player's nostalgia factor (mostly lawyers or 40somethings who are just starting I'm thinking) and the need for younger players, who lack the gear, to want to emulate their idols. It makes sense but I still don't like it.

...the only thing good that's come out of that design/technology, the footpedal with the control knobs on top and the modeling, is the Digitech Expression Factory...that's one cool pedal...

I wonder who's next on their list? Care to wager/guess?

Don't give them the hint!

:laugh2:

They're probably already getting the "digital DNA" to produce a Jimmy Page signature pedal!

What tones do you think they'd get for a Page pedal?

The acoustic stuff from III, I would think, in a modeler...the "Telecaster sound" from I & II..."Stairway" of course...the solo probably...oh, wait, the MXR Bluebox sound from the "Fool in the Rain" solo...

I want to hear some clips to see how that guitar modeling stuff sounds...

Something about guitar modeling in a pedal seems wrong to me... :|

Re: Is nothing sacred?

Why you ask?

How many guesses do we get for the number of zeroes in the check?

At least with the Clapton one the proceeds were going to the Rehab facility.

I actually work for Digitech and I'm doing a survey of guitar sites across the web, you idiot! You get no money! It's all for meeeeee!!!!!!

Seriously, I just thought it'd be fun to try and guess what other guitar hero they'd do next.

Re: Is nothing sacred?

If I got one of those pedals for free, I mean, I'd check it out and play with it, as a toy only. Then I'd work on how to get that similar tone without modeling. :D

(Keep this on the DL, but if they ever made an Alex Lifeson pedal...)

Re: Is nothing sacred?

I tried the Clapton pedal, and I didn't think it was all that bad. I just wish it had the rhythm/solo function like on the Jimi and this new Brian May one.

Re: Is nothing sacred?

"Design your own unique tones..." "...have created a device capable of making anybody sound like me!"

Uhuh. Yep.
