My personal feeling is that if the fuzz is solid state then I'd rather use a stomp box because then I can change it to whatever I want. With a tube circuit or the FAC/Depth control you get something that's totally unique and can't be found in a pedal (well, I haven't found it anyway).

Still, I want to hear what these amps sound like cranked. We're obviously missing a lot of the low end response in these recordings and there's no speaker drive, so it's not really a fair representation of what it can do.

I agree with you, my general feeling is just that, just because it's no a complete copy/ripoff of electric's way of working / sound doesn't mean it will be bad. Maybe they went and taylored a fuzz for maximum response to their amp.

Furthermore, I think that if they went and just flat out copied electric amps, lots of folks would've called 'em up on it and thought it was a bad move so I'm trying not to put the amp in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation and wait 'til I can play one before I judge too much.

I hear ya, although while the former would be killer, the latter I wouldn't classify as "lame as ****" if it's a ggod sounding circuit... Just way less cool than the first option. Just because they're going for the matamp vibe doesn't mean they have to copy the sound and circuit... Imho, there are other ways of achieving cool doom tones... Tons of guys are usin muffs over othe amps and sound killer, it's just not "that" particular sound you know?

Alrjough not as cool, remember that good ss fuzz pedals do exist... Is I remember correctly...;)

YUP, there are deff some Great Fuzz Units out there.

The BAT Pharaoh is still one of my fav fuzz'es i have heard.

That pedal into either my 5150, or Thunderverb 50 can get legit Doom'y !

I sooo want to try a Falcon 90 !

There is just too many thing about that amp that i might like even more, once i can hear it in person :

<--- bad sound, but you get the general idea, as he talks through all the knobs !

Confirmed . . . it is an SS fuzz circuit. (see 4m09sec)

Re: Is Randall's new amp trying to get their finger into the Matamp/Electric pie ?

All the demos are fairly poor. They really don't show the range of the fuzz circuit. It seems like all the demos were with the fuzz control set at 12.

This is a [very] early mix of a a couple of our songs from our upcoming LP. Actually, I don't think any mixing has been done, lol.

Andromeda, Falcon and both RedBears. Straight in, no pedals.

The guitars sound... righteous.

Both songs added to my regular playlist.

"It has no clean sound what so ever". LOL

Looks dumb but sounds great in that video.

Yeah, that Pharaoh is pretty awesome. Some of my other favorites through the TV50 (which you really have to try if you haven't already):
-Mountain King Audio Megalith
-Regular triangle muff (85-90% of the pharaoh...really)
-That one you can't find but I've built a "Green Amp" emulator, that over the TV's A channel dirt is pure incrediblefuzzymuchoawesomeness...

Sounds like they took a page out of the older Laney TT-sig amp.
