I love the paf classic, but I'm sure I would also love the seth. DMZ and SD don't really have a comparable scale to measure output.

has anyone ever played both of these?

which is louder?

Never played them side by side > but I currently have a seth lover which replaced a dimarzio paf in my les paul

I just didn't get on with it > the seth lover sounds far better:banana:

If you want louder fo' sure, go with a Brobucker or one of the WCR sets.

They aren't high output "hot" pickups, if thats what you mean, but they certainly sound HUGE. I have use Seth's, Pearly gates, 59's, JB's, and a Demon, and I have never found myself having to turn the amp volume UP when I switch to the Seths. If you are really talking about LOUD though, Seths are not wax potted, and the Duncan website doesn't reccomend them for high gain 100 watt monster amps. You can't beat Seth Lovers for what they do.

dude, I KNOW they aren't mega exploding distortion pups. I was considering putting my 210 mV paf classic bridge in the neck position of my iceman. I was wondering if the seth was maybe 50 millivolt higher or so in order to compensate for difference between neck and bridge output.

If you look at the D.C. resistance of both pickups you can tell a lot. Generally, neck pickups are not wound as "hot" as bridge pickups. Putting your Paf Classic bridge (8.71K) in the neck position will make the neck position much "hotter" than the bridge version of the Seth Lover (8.1K). The usual Dimarzio Paf Classic neck measures only 8.55K. The Seth lover neck, in order to balance with the Seth Bridge is only 7.2K. Every pickup set I have ever seen is the other way around from what you describe; hotter bridge, cooler neck. Higher D.C. resistance also means a darker sound in many cases, which may cause the neck position to sound muddy.

Also, You would be putting an alnico 5 pickup in the neck position which is where most players look for a smoother cleaner tone, such as the sweet sound of an alnico 2 seth lover.

Anyway, these things always sound good in numbers and on paper. Who knows, they might sound awesome together like that. Give it a whirl.
