is the dsl401 enough????

Re: is the dsl401 enough????

that 40 watt Marshall has lots of volume!!!! I have done gigs with stacks and small combos..... I have found that with stacks i always have to watch my volume and with combos i can carry them in plug in and be playing in no time.... I had been doing gigs with a Peavey Classic 30 with an added 1x12 ext cab.... The ext cab is sealed back so it adds some bass.... I need tubes for that amp but once i get them in that amp will be my number one gigger until i can afford a better combo... My stacks are collecting dust... love the sound they make but for real life use they are not right for me.. i have 3 heads and a 4x12... the 4x12 has been in the basement for over 2 years now and has not been used since.. been meaning to dust it off and move it back upstairs.. Unless you are on a large outdoor stage in front of a lot of people a 100 watts and a 4x12 to me seems a bit much for most bars in Ontario Canada.... I understand a combo does not sound or feel the same but to get a good sound out to the pa a combo works everytime!!!!!

40 Watts Tube is LOUD!

Re: is the dsl401 enough????

The only thing I'll ad is get your amp off the floor...and if you get another cab, get it off the floor too.

40w allows you to actually saturate (PUSH) those tubes & it's still plenty loud.

I have a DST U84(Hiwatt clean/Marshall SLP dirty), which runs 2 EL84s & 4 12AX7s for the loudest friggin 20 watts you've ever heard. Run an OD pedal thru there & it's massive saturation at useable volume.

I think you'll be fine for most any situation !!! :beerchug:
