just got my hands on a fender deville 2x12 new for a couple of days. i can't that that i'm real impressed with it. the supersonic, IMO, is much better sounding in cleans and overdrive. the deville is decent, but i'm not sure it's any better than the classic 50 which is about $200 less.
it's very touch sensetive, so every nuance of your playing will come through - good and bad. it's very loud indeed. i actually like the built in overdrive. it gets really nasty when you put a distortion pedal in front. you can really get some serious metal tones. i tried it with a metal muff and a metal zone and it sounded good.
the only thing was that it sounded good, not great. there was nothing exciting about the sound and it wasn't as warm as i anticipated. kind of cold sounding and a little plain. clear and articulate, but kind of plain jane. it's a good thing i didn't buy this amp because i expected a little more.
don't get me wrong, it's a good workhorse amp, but nothing to write home about. i don't think any serious player will get on the deville and go "wow!"
