Is the jb hotter than a demon

I just put demons in my strat . Got it yesterday.
The Demon sounds O.K but I have to really crank the gain to get it to sustain
I was planning on getting cool rails in the bridge, but the guitar tech put demoms in the neck as well said it 's a better match.
I'm not happy with these pick ups.
Would jb in bridge and cool rails in the neck give me more sustain
without cranking the gain on my amp.
When I crank my gain I get over tones. NOT GOOD
Thanx for any input!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Re: Is the jb hotter than a demon

A guitar with a Demon should sustain just fine if the guitar is properly set up. I doubt it's the pickup's fault. The JB is a hotter pickup tho and will push the input of your amp harder for more of an overdriven tone. Lew

Re: Is the jb hotter than a demon

Well, natural sustain is really determined by how well your guitar is set up and how well you can play and use finger vibrato to coax the note into ringing a little longer. But a hotter pickup will drive your amp harder and make it distort sooner and that can help create sustain too. But it's a distorted rock sustain. Really, the Demon should be doing the trick if you're playing through a good amp and your guitar is properly set up. Tho if you just don't like the tone of a Demon that's another matter. Lew

Re: Is the jb hotter than a demon

Well Lew that was good advice! Good thing duncan has the replace policy.
I tried the demons, not bad sound, but they don't drive as much as the name sounds.
I have an odd amp it's called a bedrock. It's a rip off of the ac 30 with 70 watts.
Total great sounding reverb but it doesn't have 2 channels, although it does have a gain push pull volume but when you crank the gain it's very hard to clean up when you back off the volume on the guitar. So I don't like to use the gain volume too much
do you have any ideas. I need a pick up that when you turn up .Goes from clean to drive.

Re: Is the jb hotter than a demon

Sorry me again > My buddy's guitar is fender strat body with a tele neck, yet when I plug his axe in it' just screams and all you have to do is turn the nob.
He has stock pick ups neck and middle and I'm not sure about the bridge, but it looks like a 1/4 pounder .Yet I tried the 1/4 to get that same thing .
I just don't get it!

Are you talking about the single sized (JB Jr, etc) coz you mentioned the Cool Rails in your list?
JB is hotter then the Demon...

Re: Is the jb hotter than a demon

The JB is stronger. So is the Distortion. So are the Custom, Custom 5 and Custom Custom. Maybe your problem is that you can't turn the amp up loud enough for it to take off and fly! AC30's are loud as heck...I loved it, but I sold mine because I just couldn't crank it up without hurting myself. That's why I play through two 20 or 25 watt amps in stereo these days. Alot of guys buy to big of an amp for the type of playing they actually do. Most amps are just to loud for the situations most of us find ourselves playing in. It's a very, very commen problem. You might want to consider a Boss DS-1 pedal. I use mine alot and have learned how to set it up with the controls about 1/2 way and then I leave it on all the time. It lets me go from clean to scream with just my guitar's volume control. That's the pedal Vai and Satriani use, and they use it like I do: always on! Lew

Re: Is the jb hotter than a demon

YA i HEAR YA! iT DOES GET REALLY LOUD. bUT i KEEP THE MASTER DOWN A BIT
wHEN i CRANK THE GAIN ,IT RIPS REAL GOOD. THE PROBLEM IS BACKING OFF THE VOLUME AND THE DISTORTION IS STILL PRESENT WHEN THE GAIN IS UP ON THE AMP.
i'M THINKING HOTTER PICK UP LIKE MAYBE JB AND BACK OFF ON YHE GAIN OF THE AMP MAYBE?

Re: Is the jb hotter than a demon

I've also have a blues junior fender amp at home that's only 15 watts
I get the same results "Got to crank the gain" So that's why I'm thinking hotter pick!
