is the SH-6 "hot" enough to not care about pole spacing?

I messed up. I put a regular sized SH-6 Distortion in my humbucker tele. None of the strings are audibly louder though. Is this pickup hot enough to not matter, or should I swap it for a TB-6 Trembucker? I didn't notice until I LOOKED at it, and it's pretty obvious the pole-pieces are much narrower than the string-spacing. It would probably be cheaper if I could find a narrower bridge for it, but I can't find one. Should I worry about it? Thanks.

New pickup that you could swap for free? I would. Can't hear an issue? I wouldn't worry about it. I also would say I don't think heat of the pickup seems to matter, but rather the spacing of your bridge.

It is new, but I installed it, so it might not be too cool to try and exchange it. It came without the leads exposed though, and I had to strip the ends of the wires. (Does that mean it was a return to begin with? Because other SD pickups came with the ends of the wires already stripped.) If I cut the tips off the wires, it would look identical to the way I received it.

If its not broke dont fix it... unless you have a problem with your E strings... just leave it be.

I've personally never had a problem with any standard humbucker in a trem guitar. I can't hear a difference. I just get f spaced because the misaligned poles get on my nerves.

If you don't notice any drop out, just keep it. Many of us guys with floyds had this issue for year before Trembuckers, and f spacing (whole reason the pickup was tilted on the Barretta as well as the Peavey tracer deluxes). really though, I never noticed a real issue on any of mine.

I have just the opposite issue ..got trem spaced distortion bridge but a non- trem guitar lol Haven't put it in yet so I guess I'll see if it works or not then

We should probably trade. Is yours white? Mine's white. I'm all about the white.

^^
You should both work out a deal. It doesn't make a huge difference, and would make none with a blade type, as long as said blade extended under both E strings. But it does make a difference, especially when you start bending strings.

Re: is the SH-6 "hot" enough to not care about pole spacing?

I'd say if you don't hear anything off about it, don't worry about it. Listen with your ears, not your eyes ;)

Re: is the SH-6 "hot" enough to not care about pole spacing?

I had a volume drop on the E strings with a regular spaced Invader, so I don't think output has much to do with it. :D

Re: is the SH-6 "hot" enough to not care about pole spacing?

To answer thread title: No

Distance to the string is the key - no matter what direction. Directly under, 45 degrees, right beside….Distance is key, not position. Raise the pole just a touch if you are worried.

Re: is the SH-6 "hot" enough to not care about pole spacing?

The place I ordered the pickup from offered to change it out for the trem-version, so I took them up on it. No, I couldn't hear any issues, but I'm an aesthetic type of person, so I figured it was worth the effort to sort it out. Thanks for all the replies.
