It shouldn't, because the original units just played an actual tape sample. There was no way to get 'layers' of dynamics out of it. I've heard it not track properly in demos when there wasn't enough signal or too many notes were coming in, like a complex chord.
I'd love a Mel9 for the string and choir sounds. Those are my favorite sounds on guitar synth, so to not have to use a 13 pin guitar to do it, well, that would be great.
Apparently the EHX resampling pedals actually are somewhat dynamically responsive.
Not sure how much, and I haven't played the Mel9 myself. Yet.
But a friend has the sitar pedal and it seems to have some dynamics.
I think they respond (at least somewhat) to soft vs hard picking, and even to volume swells.
It's possible the tone follows dynamics too - seems darker when played softer.
That might simply be a consequence of running it through a guitar amp though.
