Is there a tool\stripper for cloth covered wire?

Re: Is there a tool\stripper for cloth covered wire?

Yeah, it took me a while to figure that one out too. But as said, just clip to length and push back the cloth insulation.

But there's no super-duper cool snip snip tool? Okay. I was asking because I ALMOST sliced my left guitar playin fore-finger yesterday. I said, "Whoa doggie, THAT was a close one!"
So you gusy say, push-back. Kinda like foreskin? :laugh2: lolol

Yip. You kinda got the picture!!! LOL!!!

I've not had the privilege of using this wire (Amazon will not ship the stuff here for some obscure reason and the only stuff that StewMac had in stock at the time was like a roll of 10km or something!!! LOL!!!). HOWEVER: I've worked with something similar before (not on guitars though). So here's a little hint. You're not supposed to strip this wire but push back the cloth covering, solder, then release. It's not quite that easy though. So you can use something like a paper clip, crocodile clip (from your multimeter), or even a clothes peg to hold back the cloth covering while you're soldering. Then simply remove and there you go. And if it's a short length: you have to clip on BOTH sides of course otherwise the covering moves off the opposite end of where you're working.

Usually wire cutters will do the trick. If they don't quite get the cloth part, scissors will do that.
