Is there anything more useless in guitar life...

Than the 23rd fret?
I don't think I've ever heard a meaningful note being played there by anyone, ever.

:D

Re: Is there anything more useless in guitar life...

I've bent a string up to it and past it, but never touched it. Oh wait, I've played with keyboard players before, so yes I have touched it. It was miserable.

Re: Is there anything more useless in guitar life...

I'd add fret 24 in there, too.

Unless you are a skinny Italian guy from Long Island...

I'd rather have 24 frets available and not use them, than have only 21 or 22 and want to be able to go higher.

Sure, but bending from the 23rd or 24th fret will result in a higher pitch than from the 22nd, all other factors being equal. Will it not?

It's only there to make the 22-fret guitars jealous.
And to keep certain neck pickups from feeling like they're too fat.

I'm waiting for Kramersteen to weigh in on this.

Or, you just press down on the 23 or 24 etc fret.

Re: Is there anything more useless in guitar life...

When I'm up past the 14th fret, I drop it down an octave... or 2.

Re: Is there anything more useless in guitar life...

I do sometimes slide up to the last couple frets with my pinky to end a phrase,,,,,but then I do have very skinny fingers.

Re: Is there anything more useless in guitar life...

I was under the impression that guitarists prefer 22 frets because of where the neck pickup is.
