is there shorter neck guitars out there?

right so i dont have very long fingers and i have played while

but i have some trouble reaching some chords like setting fingers from fret 1 to 4 fret or 2 to 5

i was thinking is there any guitars out there with neck so that the starting frets arent so long apart each other?

id prefer ibanez guitar or such with metal sound

nope, you mean wizard or wizard II? havent tried either one

i guess i would have to buy ibanez guitar with one, as i dont think ill want to put one to my current guitar

If you're playing a 25.5" scale then a 24.75" would help a little bit. To go much smaller and you'd have a junior scale instrument.

What you're refering to is scale length, which is the distance from where the strings cross the nut to the point where the sit on the bridge saddles. Basicly, this controls how far apart each fret is, so longer scale length=wider fret spacing. Pretty much the most common scale length in electrics is 25.5'' (typically on fenders, ibanez, and lots of other guitars that would be considered 'metal'. The other very common scale length would be 24-3/4'' which is found on most gibsons, among others. There are a few fender models out there that have shorter scale lengths, around the 24'' or so, but they're not your typical strat or tele, and they are usually a bit harder to find and most of the time arn't typically arn't used for metal much.

With all of that said, the advice I would pass to you is to practice a lot, as you say you havn't played in a while, and it does take time to get your fingers used to stretching.

As far as the ibanez wizard neck is concerned, it's not going to help you with fret spacing, as I think they are 25.5'' scale. They are however very thin, so you can wrap more of your hand around them, if that's what you're after, but if you're playing chords generally speaking medium to thicker necks are prefered to really skinny ones, since you don't get too much of your hand on the fretboard by having more neck to fill your hand and really grab onto when you're going chugga chug chug. Skinny necks lend them self more to soloing when you maybe just have your thumb balancing on the back of the neck to not slow you down as much. At least that's the theory i'm told, and not everything works for every player, so try out things and go with what works for you.

Try a Fender Jaguar, Cyclone, Mustang, Duo-Sonic or Musicmaster.

OR.....,

About $5500 will also get you into a nice Gibson Byrdland, like what Ted Nugent uses.

If you need more stretch try classical sitting and hand positions.
When sitting put the guitar on your left leg so that the neck points upwards. Acoordingly wraping your thumb around the neck won't work so you should put it behind the neck and bring down your wrist. In that position stretches are way more comfortable

The following are 24" scale axes with metal in mind (picspam)... Most people can't tell 24" from 24.75" if they're pressed, but they might afford those smaller handed folk a bit of reach. (I have large hands and like 24")

Or cheaper... Some Jagmasters are 24" scale (but not that one below, ehh you get the idea)

Peavey T-15's are nice MIA axe's that usually go for less than 2 bills and have either a 23" or a 23.5" scale length. (Can't remember which this early in the morning.)
