Came across this guitar, and for some reason, a mental alarm came on. I don't know if it's the trust rod cover, the cream backplates or what, but it just doesnt seem right. The knobs are also weird.

What do you guys think.

Fake.

Look at the gold finish-

Truss Rod Cover-

The shape (although that *could* be the photo angle)

The Bridge angle.

Cream back plates

Something goofy about the pickup shapes.

Should I call this guy out before somebody gets shafted? Lot's of kids on that site don't know much about guitars, and I would hate for that to happen.

I think you should buy it ! - Then you can stop wondering if it's a fake or not and start wondering about something else.

Its an epi someone rigged the headstock on.

Color, bridge (metric style), headstock shape, back covers...

If the guy hasn't played it much, why the re-fret? (no binding on fret edges)

lots of giveaways.

I'm gathering batteries as we speak. Seriously though, I am sending an email with a bunch of facts like " Gibson's don't use cream back plates" and so on, then letting him know selling fakes is illegal. Then I'll request a serial #. I want to see what he will say.

Please excuse my work at the bottom, I'm trying to reconcile some inventory problem. Apparently, we have negative 1400+ feet of some PVC tubing in our warehouse. My whole day will be finding where the error is. *sigh*

You mean in my inventory report? I'm not sure how that would help...

I realize there are lots of errors in that silly guitar, I was just pointing out from a physical standpoint that nothing is in the right place.

im pretty sure that wouldnt be a les paul standard as well....(as the headstock states)

I just don't know if this person is a seller who honnestly thinks he has a gibson, or some scammer who is trying to rip people off. I think the best thing to do is just report the add.

You usually need to get more than 1 report to get attention brought to the add though, so if any of you feel like taking the time to just press the report button at the bottom of the page, feel free to do so.

Hey, I'm no gibson expert but that just looks wrong.
Just the angle between the bridge and the tailpiece is just not right, never mind the dodgy finish, odd P90's, the staining on the back doesn't look dark enough...

If I sprayed the top of my Tokai gold it'd look more like a gibson than that.

I say report the guy.
