Is this a problem???

Hi, today I bought a Duncan Distortion pickup for my guitar. I fitted it in and it works perfect. Sound AMAZING! lol. but I've noticed a few things that are a bit weird.
First of all, when the amp is set clean, my stock neck pickup is louder than my bridge pickup. but when the amp is on distortion, they are exactly the same volume.
Secondly, when my guitar is set to both pickups on (it's a les paul by the way) it sounds like the guitar is going through a wah pedal. kinda of trebly and nasaly. I've heard that this means that the pickups are out of phase. I was thinking of buying a SH-1 for the neck. would this work better?

That's a pretty good description of out-of-phase wiring. Some people love it, some hate it. It definitely offers a thinner sound though. I don't know if the distortion pickup would necessarily sound 'better' than your stock pickup out-of-phase, if you don't like the out-of-phase sound.

Have you tried re-wiring your rig to a standard LP setup? You may end up liking that much better. I know I have played out-of-phase guitars before, and really liked it for particular songs, but I would usually throw an eq pedal on to get a little extra boost.
