Is this a real Charvel?

So I'm looking at Craigslist, and decide to type in "Charvel" and this comes up. The guy says that it's unmarked because of legal issues between Charvel and Fender. He also says it has a OFR and Bill Lawrence and SD pickups in it. Now I'm not exactly an expert on Charvels, so I don't know if they ever made a San Dimas with no logo on the headstock? If it's real, I'd get it in a heartbeat, but if it's not, well, meh.

I'm calling Epic Bullish*t on the seller! An UNAMARKED CHARVEL?! Like any modern guitar company is gonna release an "Unmarked Series". That body and its hardware (particularly the pickups) have all the earmarks of Washburn Nuno Bettencourt Signature Model. This looks like a Wahsburn N-Series body and hardware with an aftermarket neck (N-Series has a reverse headstock). Maybe it's a Charvel neck sans the logo, but I seriously doubt it.

And that excuse about legal issues is the worst lie I've ever heard! What a crock of Sh*t! Considering Fender OWNS Charvel, What the hell kind of legal issue could there be?!?! The Washburn N-Series also COMES STOCK FROM WASHBURN WITH THOSE PICKUPS! A Bill Lawrence L500 bridge and a S.D. '59 neck. Coincidence that this looks so much like that EXACT GUITAR! What a total d-bag!!

No but he mentions it being a Wayne charvel which of course has nothing to do with charvel.

Need more pics of the headstock, back of the neck and the back of the body to actually tell. I think he's claiming it's made from Wayne Charvel parts, not Fender owned Charvel parts. Wayne parts are fairly easy to spot due to the shape of the tummy cut and for the neck he used to do a strathead neck with a "nub" on it (a triangle shape that stuck out right below where the headstock decal would typically go) that could be sanded off to look more like a strathead. From that one pic, I have no idea what that is.

He might be trying to claim that it's a pre-production (before '82) Charvel as they often didn't have a logo on the headstock. However they wouldn't have had a recessed Floyd, and they were also usually 21 frets. The spacing of the 12th fret dots also looks a bit wide for a Charvel.

Check it out. Regardless, if it has an OFR, Lawrence and Duncan pickups, it's worth $300 for parts.

Agreed that it's worth $300 or more for the parts provided that they're not fakes.

I also call BS that's it's a Charvel but for $300 man I would hit it if it plays nice. Has all the parts for a kick ass guitar.

Who cares? It's 300 bucks (or best offer) with Bill Lawrence, SD pickups and OFR. Consider it a Warmoth guitar with premium parts. And it comes with a hardshell case too!

I was looking at it on my phone. Upon closer inspection, I agree that it is not a Washburn. The dead giveaway now is the location of the toggle switch. Plus, like you said, the shape isn't quite right.

I missed the "Wayne" part earlier. Definitely still think it's no Charvel, and if its a Wayne Charvel, I'm saying that's parts only. And yeah, for $300 not bad. I just don't like misrepresentation.

I wouldnt even bet this thing is "premium parts" Might be worth checking out... but not at 300 bucks

I agree! I thought Washburn Nuno straightaway. I would be wary of the seller's claims.

If it plays and sounds good then for $300 with a case I'd say it is worth it. But definitely not a Wayne nor a Charvel. And unless it is a really old Wayne neck (like pre-original San Dimas days) then no way it is a Wayne Charvel neck. It would be interesting to take the neck off and see if it doesn't say something like Warmoth, All-Parts, etc.
