Is this a sin? Tele content

I have a stock tele copy which has a really great stock sound from the woods but i feel it lacks what i want to do with it. This is a spontanious scetch of what i want to do with it, i'm not sure yet of what to do with the bridge pup if i keep the tele single or get a full bucker.

What do you think? Is it a sin doing this to a Fiesta red tele? I want a neck 'bucker because i love the clean sound of a 'bucker + i play jazz and i love the jazz tone a 'bucker gives.

*Edit:* Not sure also on to have a maple fretboard or rosewood, which is better for that jazz sound?

The orange/red and black is not doing it for me. I like the pickup combo but I would change the colors.

i dunno, i think that's one of those colors where the whole guitar has to be the same color

and use more chrome, darkness

but ideally, this is what i think you should do

I'd do a transparent orange stain, something that has a bit of opaqueness to it but you can still see the grain. Throw some nickel or chrome hardware on there too, the black is too dark for the guitar in my opinion.

Uugghh! That thing is as tacky and ridiculous as one of Porter Wagoner's costumes.

I would go with a Firebird MIni Hum in the Neck and a JD in the bridge. Great combination for a Tele. The Mini Hum in the neck is one of the best sounds for a Tele. THe Jerry Donahue bridge is an awesome bridge pickup. Together they are also perfect for rhythm playing.

Re: Is this a sin? Tele content

The guitar is fiesta red/orange and i'm keeping it this way. I've tried out different teles today, ones that have the strings thru body and ones with the strings thru bridge and i kind of like the strings thru bridge sound more, it gave me less snap, crackle and pop which i associate with fender type instruments and more meat and beef a la TOM type bridges which i like.

But the downside is...i kinda liked the tele neck pup...can you do that? I have always talked bad about the tele neck pup for being too bassy and boring but today when i tried out teles with hummers, mini hummers and the tele single coils in the neck position i went back to the guitars with the tele single in the neck. Is it ok to like the neck tele pup?

Does Seymour or any other company make a good humcancelling tele neck pup? Vintage or modern sounding - i'm interested in both!

Ah, It's not that bad, bottom line if you like it go for it, everyone else's opinion is worth about the same as a rusty bottle cap.

Re: Is this a sin? Tele content

If you want Orange and black guard, I'd go Maple neck with chrome hardware to liven it up a bit.

Re: Is this a sin? Tele content

it's a 72 deluxe with a bigsby & different paint job

i really fail to see what's so blasphemous about that

and the orange burst looks cool

:earl: Reminds me of some very cheap guitars from my childhood which could be bought at Otassco, Whites, or Gibsons department stores. All the geezers should know what I am talking about. That being said, if you like it then that is all that matters.
