Is this a stacked Squier pickup?

Re: Is this a stacked Squier pickup?

…only in the sense that it might have been installed in a Squier.

Struggling to think of any Squier models supplied with stacked coil pickups as stock. Some models have Duncan Design units. Some DD pickups are noise-cancelling stacked coil designs.

BTW, link not working.

Link to image still not working--try this one that goes to the auction page: LINK

Re: Is this a stacked Squier pickup?

The auction pickup is certainly tall but that, in itself, indicates nothing about the number of coils beneath the cover.

The polepieces have the look about them of steel studs rather than Alnico rod magnets. The lower portion of the cover could be concealing a ceramic bar magnet.

The baseplate on the underside of the pickup has a metallic sheen to its edge. I suggest that the bar magnet lurks between the baseplate and the coil form bobbin.

Even if the pickup were dual coil, it need not necessarily have four con + shield cable. (LHS already has an Ibanez RG centre pickup constructed this way!)

and I am proud to say thouse Ibby pickups are in my Squier! as well as the Dimarzio in the bridge ;) I just need to finish off filing the neck section of the pickguard so it fits and drill a few holes for some more pickguard screws and voila, just strings and a setup.

Erm. Don't recall selling you a DiMarzio. Just a Mighty Mite Motherbucker and a Fernandes HB that resembles a Super Distortion.

Enjoy!

I'm talking about that stacked thing that you sent in the Bruce Aid package.

Turns out to be an Ibanez but designed by Dimarzio.

Official Ibanez/DiMarzio and Ibanez/SD "collaborative" pickup designs make maximum play of their pedigree - usually in the form of a pad printed logo on the bobbin nearer the bridge.

The stacked coil RG550 centre pickup is MIJ by/for Ibanez. DiMarzio had nothing to do with it. This is not to say that it is not a perfectly good pickup.

Re: Is this a stacked Squier pickup?

is it RP/RW?

In and of itself? Yes.

In relation to any other pickup? Impossible to answer without knowing what the other pickup is.

Enough of this banter, Glasshopper. Log off. Select BBC4 on your television and watch Round Ireland With A Fridge.
