Is this HSS Strat wiring possible...

Re: Is this HSS Strat wiring possible...

:D And of course, there's several different ways to skin a cat.

yep..
there are no wrong solutions.. only ones that either work or dont..

when i was in school for programming.. teacher didn't care how we got our solutions as long as it worked and no obvious cheating.. many different ways to solve a problem.. he also implied that with such freedom, this might give us enough rope to hang ourselves.. lol.. good teacher..very chalenging labs.. classes where the hardest i have ever had the pleasure or displeasure to take.. my feeling varied from week to week with his classes

Re: Is this HSS Strat wiring possible...

That switching arrangement looks pretty useful; I'd like to try it on a Strelecaster I'm modding. Would you be willing to draw up a diagram with one volume and two tone controls please? (1 tone for neck & combinations, 1 tone for bridge, no tone for middle when by itself...) That'd be very helpful to me.

This wiring arrangement doesn't combine the bridge with the middle, so pos 1 would use the bridge tone control, pos 2 would have none, and pos 3-5 would all share the neck tone control, yes? That's what I had in mind, and I think it should work. I also want to do series/parallel wiring for the bridge HB on a push-pull pot; that part doesn't need to be included in the diagram if it makes things too complicated. (EDIT: But if you do include it, I'd like to use the bottom pot as the bridge tone & series/parallel.)

Thanks for this, and for the many other diagrams you've done here on the board. You've been a huge help to a lot of people!

ill try to add everything you want..

thx for the compliment. I do try even though im occasionally wrong on my solution but with the help of others, im able to fix any issues that might come up

Re: Is this HSS Strat wiring possible...

OK.. I took the time today to make minor modifications to the way I do things, I increased the page size of my drawings to legal. This will give me a bit more room to work. I always felt kinda cramped. I also widened the wires a tad but at the same time decreased the width of the grounds a tad. I also organised all my wire size presets and colors to make things a bit smoother and to cut down on some confusion or wasted time looking for the preset i need

Since I did the above I redrew the ops drawing he had requested and I be damn if I didn't find a small error. I forgot to add a ground on quadrant 3,lug 3. Had a bit of an issue with this drawing as my experience in drawing 'pups in series via a 5-way was lacking.1st time I drew a humbucker in parallel with a 5 way was equally frustrating..lol Its all good now though. I'm at the point now that I can draw every major wiring mod for a LP or strat w/o referring back to other drawings..Still no experience with a tele but It shouldn't be too hard

Well here is the drawing
