Is this type of pickup possible?

Has there been or would it be possible to wind a pickup with switches or a dial that could add or subtract a predetermined number of winds from a humbuckers signal? Something that would amount to a rheostat for the amount of wraps you're using.

Single coil pickups can be tapped, and you can put as many taps as you want in there. You wind the pickup, add an output wire, and then keep winding. Add a switch to select which tap you want. Things like this were more popular in the 70s and early 80s than they are now.

I would assume it could be, but you'd get different levels of noise cancellation as you hit the different taps.

Doesn't Bill Lawrence (Wilde Puckups) have something like this? I think they recommend it with a lot of their higher output pickups to make them more flexible.
