Issues with my strat's neck; correct relief, and buzz suddendly appeared :(

Re: Issues with my strat's neck; correct relief, and buzz suddendly appeared :(

Just standard D'addario 10s-46s I've always put on her. I didn't change the gauge.

Lowered the strings to what I consider to be a normal playing height and added a tiny bit of relief from straight neck. Seems to have improved things but it still buzzes.

I think I'm also used to NEVER having ANY buzz on ANY of my guitars. Never. Can't stand it. Not one bit. Never ever any buzz on my gear. So I actually have no idea what would consist in a 'normal' fret buzz level..!

Dikkedarios....the rubberbands from hell....:D
Buzz??
Who gives a ......?
Anyways it takes some serious setup to get them low and get no buzz....
Plus some of it can come down to how you play them!

Needs to ease off when getting low...
Or it will buzz like a mother.
Pickups will pull harder, and the weather ain't helping either.
And D'Addarios are bouncy strings....I love their acoustic stuff....
But ever since the Eco bags came around...the XL's have been crap!

Lower it, but give it a hair or two more on the relief...
Maybe it does not like the angle it has when getting lower, that has alot to say as well...

As I recall a quick check (Guitar Players Repair Guide 2nd ed) to see if a nut is cut too low is to press the string at the second fret. If the string clears the first fret it is probably not too low. How does yours look? It should just clear. At that point set the relief you want, then the bridge height (string height). I measure at the 17th fret and go about 5/64" as my base height (string bottom to top of fret). From this I tweak to work with that guitar. I rarely go lower myself as it does not feel comfortable bending for me to be lower.
