It Looks Like Michael Anthony Jumped Ship From Yamaha

Re: It Looks Like Michael Anthony Jumped Ship From Yamaha

Is it not also possible that Yamaha declined to renew/extend Michael Anthony's endorsement contract?

If any artiste's profile dips and signature model instruments no longer sell in large numbers, it ceases to benefit an instrument manufacturer to continue the agreement.
Yes, it's possible, and you are most likely correct. I was just sayin'. I'm sorry that I didn't think about every single aspect of everything before I posted the thread.

Looks clean! Love PJs. Always loved Anthony's VH tone too, especially on stuff like Dance the Night Away and Atomic Punk.

Re: It Looks Like Michael Anthony Jumped Ship From Yamaha

I suspect that you are biased in favour of the Schecter because you are a long-term Michael Anthony fan. I am probably equally biased against because I am not a fan.
No. That has nothing to do with it. I was merely posting that Michael Anthony has a Schecter Bass Model now. Also, I happen to like Schecter. I have three Schecter Guitars, and they are all fine instruments.

Re: It Looks Like Michael Anthony Jumped Ship From Yamaha

Truth is, either of your Spector Legend bass guitars should poop all over the Schecter. If you desire PJ sounds, these can be obtained in EMG-35 sized pickup housings.
Also, I know this. I was just posting a bass. I thought others might like to see it, and know about it.

I don't see the point of the pickguard on that model other than as an accent?

Yeah, that's just Schecter's thing to give it that somewhat old school Tele Bass look.

It looks a lot like a Fender Aerodyne, but they never made the "P" version in black. I had to paint my brown one black to match the rest of my Aerodynes.

I imagine Schecter offered MA a nice chunk of change to use their basses, good for him

According to Eddie, that was him playing anyhow.. haha.. sorry, just had to. Many thoughts on this. First, unrelated to MIke, but from an earlier post, I LOVE the looks of the Aerodyne and always have.. How do they play and sound?? Next, I never cared much for the look of Mike's sig Yamaha, but he sounded killer. Going more on live vids... Third, Schecter makes some good gear at good prices.. I had one of the MF C1s a few years back and it was killer! Forth, Schecter seems to be doing sig models out the waahoo... And last... I do hope it was a better deal for Mike. Perhaps Yamaha did cut the deal since he no longer has the high profile gig.. IMO, he got shafted..

Ok, im done...

My old Schecter bass was the bomb

'86 - P/J setup with a Tele bass style neck

Yeah the Aerodyne was what I thought of when I saw it.
Not keen on the headstock on the MA sig but it's a nice looking bass otherwise.

Nah I think he just said he showed Michael how to play it, not that he played it himself. Besides, how would EVH find time to play bass when he was busy inventing the Floyd Rose and being the first guy to wax pot pickups?

Re: It Looks Like Michael Anthony Jumped Ship From Yamaha

That looks like a pretty sweet instrument. I often look for good P bass alternatives and this looks very tempting indeed.
