It spoke to me...

Hey everyone,

As a follow up to my other post about my guitar theory of finding an instrument that would speak to me, I am glad to report that my 7 month long quest to find myself a " #1" gig guitar has come to an end.

Today I travelled Ottawa and went through all the music stores in search of "the guitar". This was my 3rd time in the last 7 months that I dedicated a day to this. So around 2 this afternoon, after having played around 50 guitars today, I found it!:bigok:

I had been looking at prs-se's, gibson melody makers, godins, ibanez and a truckload of fenders. I had just finished playing my 5th american strat in a row when I decided to pick up this shy little black MIM strat that was sitting on a rack in the corner of the store. Classic shinny black with an awsome maple neck and board. After about 30 seconds of playing it, I knew I had to have it.

Even tho it is MIM, it feels and sounds better than all the MIA strats that I have played in the last year. Here a MIA is 1200 and a MIM is around 500. I was able to score this baby for 475.

I just brought it home and finished jamming with my dad( bass ). The tones comming out of that guitar with my all tube peavey windsor is simply baby making music. I bought this mainly for blues, and the thing owns at it.

So I am as happy as a clam right now, and taking in the new found joy of a good fit guitar. Stay tuned for my next post with a poll on the following question : what should I name her.

I will post picks real soon.

ps. Does anybody know why there is a little plate at the back with a diamond on it that says 60?

Re: It spoke to me...

it was made in 06,and it just commemorates fenders 60th anivesary,it might have some collectable value many many years down the road.

Re: It spoke to me...

and the diamond signifies 60 years,in the world of marriage your 60th annivesary is called the diamond annivesary so there ya go

Re: It spoke to me...

.IT WAS ALSO MADE IN KOREA according to the price you paid for it new american 60s went for stupid money nothing wrong with korean fenders i have one and i play it more than my american.

That is odd, because on the headstock it says " made im mexico".

Also, apparently the 60th only came in this pearly color, and mine is black.

Strange..

In any case man, she is a player! I checked, and the americans only came in 1 color, the pearly blizzard thing.

Mexicans on the other hand, came in different colors. Tis the same as a standard, exept it has "tex-mex" pickups aparently.

Re: It spoke to me...

SWEET!! yeah, make sure anything you do to it can be simply reversed as it'll probably be cllectible 20 years from now, not that you should own a guitar purely for collctor's sake, they're meant to be played!! Enjoy!! MIM Fenders are great guitars for the money!

"Almost" all of the stock Fender 2006 guitars should have the 60th Anniversary Diamond badge. These are not the same as the 60th Anniversary Strat which is a special edition.
