I was just surfing the web for a while, and ended up on musicians friend to check out some new Semi hollow guitars. I ended up checking out Italia Guitars (I'm Italian, so I wanted to see what nationality could come up with compared to my favorite Gibson), and then went to the Italia guitars webpage.

After glancing at the different guitars I thought I'd check out the basses, and saw this

I've never seen Lipstick pups used that way.

Has anyone heard this bass and what does it sound like if you have? I assume it could be a cool surf bass, but I don't know anything about it.

Re: Italia Modulo Bass

That's pretty far out. I can't say as I recall ever seeing any of those pickups used like that either.

The advantage of a design like that is you can tune each strings response separately. By changing the height and angle of each.

Ok. I never thought of it like that. How does it sound though?

Re: Italia Modulo Bass

I see they're keeping alive the Italian tradition of having some of the crappiest looking guitars around.

I used to work in a shop that was an Italia dealer.

They look kind of cool for a gimmick. They feel kind of like your middle-of-the-road Asian-made guitar (though I'm not sure exactly what factory makes them). They sound OK. They're overpriced.

I'll just say that when I worked there, and I could get anything for cost, I almost thought about buying one on a couple of occasions. At full retail, I'd pass unless I was loaded with money and wanted a quick gimmick.

My four cents.
