Its back.... A true 80's throwback finish

Re: Its back.... A true 80's throwback finish

Nice. Now time to find my hi top sneakers, skinny jeans and thrash out. :headbang:

Would like it better with sharkfin or centered dot inlays. Offset dots look too much like "wannabe boutique". Otherwise killer.

Already got my skinny jeans, can't fit into them yet...

Yeha man, so nice.

I have a crackle charvel coming. One day soon anyway.

Re: Its back.... A true 80's throwback finish

I never really cared for those finishes either.

Go to Long Island and you can see 40-90 year old women wearing clothes that look that all day long.

Ick.

About. Frickin. Time.

I kinda like the green/black swirl better than this particular crackle. Maple. Yummy.

You know, the first time I encountered the offset mini-dots was on a mid-price Jackson import back in the early 90's. I've seen them on far too many modestly-priced guitars to associate them with aspirations of "upscale" or "boutique". To me, it's kind of a nice, clean look, but it's about as high-end as a plastic spoiler on a '98 Civic with chrome skulls stuck on by the doors.

...Eh, you're right here.

I still hate the offset dots (and the "alumiloid" color inlays on other Pro series models).

I like the neck, but the finish, not so much.

Re: Its back.... A true 80's throwback finish

I always liked the Crackle Finishes; B.C. Rich, Kramer, Jackson...so much I couldn't resist the Mid-Eighties Jackson Made In USA Soloist Glow In The Dark Crackle that's been hanging on the wall of a local shop for the last 6 months and took the leap yesterday - very nice condition Mid-Eighties Jackson "Made In USA" Soloist Custom in "Glow In The Dark Crackle" Finish (including the Reverse Headstock) with 2 Jackson Covered Singles Neck/Mid/Old Vintage Duncan Bridge (believe a DD based on sound) and a Floyd Rose Original. Looks pretty much like the one below but with the GITD Crackle finish on the Headstock as well. Pics will be forth coming.

Re: Its back.... A true 80's throwback finish

I've got the same finish as the Charvel Aceman posted....wasnt crazy about it at first but looks cool on stage!

Re: Its back.... A true 80's throwback finish

Those finishes give me headaches. Too random & messy.
