People like Claus Levin and Mike Phillippov seem like salesmen. Realistically, I don't think anyone can guarantee you that if buy their video courses you will be playing as fast as you want. And Claus talks, and talks, and talks.
I looked at his pick the other day. You’re right, it is heavier than I remembered it. The pick doesn’t specifically say the thickness on it but I’d guess you’re correct in saying 1.5mm.

I also prefer smaller size picks. When I grab a standard size it feels too large to me. Mostly what I have been using for many years now is the red Jazz III.

The purple smaller Stubbies are good too. I like the way that they seem to slide fast off the string, minimizing string resistance. This area I have had many problems with. I feel that if you want to pick fast one of the things you have to do is find a way to minimize string resistance. So your pick doesn't get stuck on the string while doing the upstroke.

I learned classical style first. I can always revert to fingerpicking. When I play with a pick, I let a tiny point of the pick protrude between my thumb and index finger.
I suppose that's why I can't understand people having problems hitting the middle pickup in a strat.
