It's not often that an axe strikes me just for the color of the pickups . . .

But this new Ibby did:

Ibanez RG450EX

Ibanez - RG450EX HSH Zebra.png

I love how they did the HB'ers in Zebra, with a white single. I want to do this just for the color scheme alone. Does this make me crazy?

Very cool color scheme... but that doesn't necessarily mean that you're NOT crazy! [emoji12]

I guess I walked into that one. ;)

Not crazy, I still remember when Mike (XSSIVE) showed us his then-latest creation, clone #014 (original thread HERE but now sans photos :() and I was floored by how great the above color scheme looked. There's just something about it. Incidentally, all my pu-swaps are made with that particular zebra combination (cremes out, blacks in).

I think it looks great!

Re: It's not often that an axe strikes me just for the color of the pickups . . .

Very nice! I like it when they match the headstock with the same burst as the body!

Set the Margarita down. Walk away from the glass. That's not we're talking about. :D

I've got some sweet chrome & black open Humbuckers you can have! They actually have painted one of the bobbins Chrome??? Whoever is making design choices for Fender needs to put down the pipe! If I had any intention of keeping the stock guard I would have been P*****! They look black & white in the picture, a lot like how that Ibanez looks, cheesy as hell up close! Sucks too because they actually sound really good!!!

Mike, let's see #14 for old time's sake! (And who has it now?)

It does look very nice the way they did that.

Re: It's not often that an axe strikes me just for the color of the pickups . . .

That's pretty cool. With those pickups and guard I'd rather have a white guitar and headstock with a black logo and a maple board.

Re: ^ The color combinations are endless. The simple way they "hide" the two HB'ers in the Strat configuration is cool.

Oh yeah, color combos for days.

Totally cool what they did with the pups. I always liked "zebra" pickups in various colors.

Does this make me crazy?

Nope. Aesthetics are a big part of our grown up toys like instruments and cars. If it inspires you to start a project then all the better

I have to admit that is gorgeous and I have to ask who got Artie all wound up?

Re: It's not often that an axe strikes me just for the color of the pickups . . .

^ Ibby did it. :D

(Again.)

From a distance if you squint your eyes, it looks like it has 3 parallel single coils.
