It's that time again....LA Amp Show 2013

Alright, Southern Californians. Mark your calendars for Oct 5 & 6, and get ready to check out the best amps and boutique guitars the world has ever known.

It's $20 to get in, but you always walk out with at least that much in T Shirts, stickers, strings, bottle openers etc. And that's if you don't win a door prize or shell out some cash for a killer toy.

I've been to every single one of them, including the LA Pedal Show offshoot. I've met some of the most inspiring builders and players there, as well as getting to demo every amp, guitar, and pedal I've only seen in youtube clips. There's an amp seminar, performances, and a drawing in the evening.
If you live close enough, don't be a putz. Get your ass there! :stooges:
If it's not a possibility, at least you'll get to see a lot of it online.

Check out the list! This is shaping up to be possibly the best show yet. Bogner, 65 Amps, WCR pickups, Fix Pedalboards, Earthquaker, Suhr, Friedman, first show for Mesa, GMP guitars back in business......I can't wait.

I just got home from the show. My feet are aching and my ear drums feel like speakers that just got broken in.

All I can say is that I've been to all the Amp Shows, and this was probably the best one. It had a nice turnout, lot's of great players showed up, and as usual there's no volume restriction like the NAMM Show, so every room was buzzing with big tone and blazing chops.

And like always, I took photos of my favorite gear. I need to relax for awhile since The LA Amp Show is like Disneyland for an amp junkie like me.

Stay tuned. I'm going to upload a bunch of pictures tonight and start a new LA Amp Show picture thread.

Man , I wished I lived in LA area. I feel like I'm missing out on life. I also feel that way about not living in the NYC area.Everything awesome happens there or in LA.

FWIW, NY does not have awesome shows like that. If it did I'd be all over it.

I partially agree; the NY Amp Show is not as good at the LA version. However, between Ludlow Guitars, Ultrasound, and Rudy's, we have 90+% of the 'boutique' amp and pedal market already covered on a daily basis; there is very little NEED for a trade show aside from getting non-regional amp builders.

Yeah, the Bogner Helios handwired 100 and 50, which brings forward Reinhold's early days of modding Marshalls into firebreathers.

The Helios 100W is a brick wall of tone, similar to the Friedman amps, but thicker.
My favorites for clean were Electroplex, Satellite, RedPlate, and Tone King.
Favorites for gain....Bogner Helios, Friedman, Gjika, and 65 Amps Producer.

It was a great time, all the companies/dudes were super nice and had no problem letting you crank their amps. Especially the Earthquake guys!, their demo guy left, so they asked me to demo their board of pedals for a few people.... I was there for a good hour and a half. They hooked it up with a shirt and drinks.

Fav amps were Bogner,Friedman, and the Bray stuff
On a side note..I REALLY hope I never hear any sort of Van Helen riff again.
