It's time to buy amp

Re: It's time to buy amp

If your gonna get a Solid state Amp for playing rock music, Then get a Randall RG100H. If your gonna be playing Cleans alot Get a Roland JC-120.

But for what its worth, I've had MORE reliablity issues with SS amps than I ever had with Tube amps.
My sentiments exactly. You cant go wrong with a randall.

Re: It's time to buy amp

Roland Cube 60. At low volumes it sucks, I must admit. But put it higher than 5... and it will kill you! :butkick:

Plus it's super light and it has cabinet output.

Trust me man! And sosomething'who suggested it also. You won't miss the preamp tubes, that's for sure...

Re: It's time to buy amp

I agree with you there inner, the vox heads are GREAT hybrids. You cant go wrong there, and ill put money on it versus a roland or a randall. As for the DSL401, I used to own one and it can do what you like as long as you get a decent overdrive pedal. I sold it because it wasnt loud enough to compete against our drummer and other guitarist! It is plenty loud for gigs, but not for our practices lol. If i had the money i would have kept it.

I say get the Vox head if you can find one, or get the Marshall. Either one will satisfy you for 70s or 80s rock sounds.

Re: It's time to buy amp

I just bought (from ebay) an old SS Marshall Master lead. 30 Watt, no fx loop, no reverb, but great sounding. Made in England with a original Celestion 12 inch speaker (G12M70). Same as in the JCM800 amp.

I put a H&K Tube factor before it to get a tubey edge. But the amp is cheap (115 euro, that would be 120 dollar) and sounds great.

EDIT: I play blues and rock. Listen myspace.
