PRS or strat (or barclay on clean) -> homemade do-it-all distortion...it goes from clean boost to overdrive to dist to fuzz to mayhem -> ocassional delay -> guild maverick (with all 12ax7s and 2 el34s - non original) -> 2x10 in the combo + marshall 4x12 slant with duct tape over the speaker cones.

that is my ultimate tone hapiness set up. how bout you guys?

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

give me pretty much all I ever want. Now if I could just find the time to play...

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

sounds cool, both of you.

rich...i wish i had a few more pedals but tonally i am happy

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

Hopefully you haven't already at 16 because the tonal journey is part of the fun of playing

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

I love the clean tones I get and some minutes ago I checked old clips when I used the Tube Zone by MI Audio...dang great sound. Also, I've got a pedal from Niels, which seems a bit bassy (or the amp isn't biased right and takes this pedal this way)..but I'm set, too! :)

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

some days i love my tone and some day i get angry urges to sell everything i own and start over

either its my ears or its something else

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

For my Les Paul, gotta say yes:
- LP R7 Goldtop, Duncan Antiquities, TonePros Bridge, cosmetic changes with metal jack plate, removed pickup switch plate, black pickup rings, removed pickguard. Both pickups on, neck pickup at about half volume, bridge tone at about half.

- Into the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah (all knobs at 12 oclock), then the AC Booster (gain slightly higher than volume, treble slightly higher than bass), then the Verbzilla (63 Spring setting with high time, medium decay and low mix)

- Into the Fender 57 Tweed Twin with Tung Sol and JJ preamp tubes (stock power tubes and rectifiers), all controlls at 11 oclock except the bright channel volume at about 9 oclock. Both channels jumped together with a Y splitter going into input 1 of normal and input 1 of bright.

Wow that was a lot more detailed than I thought it would be...

For the strat, it's not quite there. I'm putting Antiquities in that soon (surf/surf/texas) along with a 5 way switch (why the hell did they put a 3 way in there, who cares if its "vintage accurate" thats a load of crap) and a blender pot. Should sound amazing after that. It's got the Callaham trem block and is set up nicely, just gotta get rid of the harsh tones i get out of it sometimes, especially clean tones.

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

Oh yeah! "Heavy Metal" midrange, superb balance, fundamental harmonics on all levels, brutality, perfect eq, my lead tone is my rhythm tone and vice-versa, great warmth versus brightness ratio, smashing brilliance, smooth but heavy distortion, open sounds, tightness from strings, pickups, and amp, clarity, articulation, fatness, cut, bite. There's probably something else, but I'm so estatic 'bout it because it took me a couuple years just to understand my instrument.

Thanks for askin'! :)

nah, I'll want more pedals and such but now i can really focus on playing. maybe a LP or something like it as well. but other than that and maybe new speakers, i feel set. ;)

that sounds awesome. if there is one thing that i like...its a good metal tone. if ever there was one thing that i've ever hated...its a poopy metal tone

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

i got one question. How do all these 1 eyar olds have thousands of dllars worth of gear already? Idon't comprehend it, cause at 16 I had nothing.

I wish I hasd rich parents like you when I was 16!!

I think his dad's a guitar player, so he started young. Just to save him from comin back atcha, I'm pretty sure he works for much of what he's got.

So the fact is......that kid is making some bread at 16, and he's also working all the angles with gift certificates and whatever he's got to do to have cool stuff.

I had a pretty kickass rig when I was 16, but I gotta hand it to him....he's got some sweeter stuff than I had........at least he's doing the smart thing and buying the good stuff right off the bat. In the long run it's cheaper.

:clap::bowdown:

Any of my guitars into my amp = awesome!

A great amp will make a good guitar sound great, and a great guitar sound excellent.

I guess that you think I have very rich parents as well ;)

Seriously man, Cream123 is a guy who can play good, and he has some very nice gear.

I aint that good a player, but I think I have some very good gear as well, its simply the fact that getting a well paying job is easier today, than it was 20years ago.

At age 18, I make enough to have my own apartment, motorcycle and a nice guitar rig, simply because of the jobmarket today. :)

I have found my tonal happiness as well. My Les Paul is the best one I have ever tried, and my other guitars are extremely nice, all of them are things I dont wanna part with.

A good humbucker loaded Strat with Floyd into my various Carl Martin pedals into a good old Marshall is my sound. I havent found it 100% yet, but I am very happy with what I have :)

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

GJ --> I spot T-Rex pedal.. You cannot have good tone ;) :D

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

I have been happy with my amp and Teles for 2 years now. Pedals come and go a lot, but the base rig kills.
