i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

Any of you guys ever feel you have (dare I say) too much stuff?

right now I've got 2.5 amps: Demeter TGP-3 preamp (thats the .5 of an amp), Modded AC30 Custom Classic w/ Red Fangs, and a Metroamp I built that was Modified by Tim Caswell. I've also got a Fender Jimmy Vaughan strat, Fender 60th anniversary white Tele thinline, Gibson Les Paul studio, Schecter C-1 Floyd Rose. Also got a spare 2x12 with eminence GB128's. I do not have enough free time to play all of these things. I find myself using the Les Paul into the Demeter and into the poweramp of my AC30 almost 90% of the time.

I'm trying to decide whether I am better off holding onto some things that are fairly rare, although not seeing much use, or to cash in on them and use the money for other hobbies, or just adding to the "general fund" aka deficit.

You can NEVER have too much gear!!!:laugh2:

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

I'm always changing ---

A year ago I was playing a Strat and a '51 into a Fender amp, and today I'm playing a 335 into a VOX

After I get married, I think I'll go on a little Telecaster streak (gotta get one first :D)

I'll attest that it's good to try it all, even if you know, for example, that a Strat into a Dumble clone is "WHERE ITS AT!" <----- (True in my case)

This is my thing as far as amps go....looks goofy, but it has an AC-30 preamp, and an outputstage from an old Dynacord amp, all parts are from the 60s....the only thing we changed was a variable resistor for bias.
I am rebuilding a new chassis for it...but it will take me forever, do not have all that much time at work right now, hope that later this spring it will get better.
It is my perfect amp, works good clean, works good driven on its own, it likes pedals, different cabs....sound especially good on my 4x12 cab.

Then I have this Carlsbro head....needs new caps in the outputstage, maybe if I am lucky enough I will get some old EL-34s for it!!
It has Partridge transformators;)
And this little 50 watts combo(I will trun it into a head later on)

Does not like much....but they deliver bigtime!!!
Then I have all the pedals in the world I ever could use!
If not I buy new(old) ones or make them myself!
Like my guitars....nothing fancy but they sound like the way I play...no need to go banzai on those!
Will probally buy a CS Fender some day, a heavy relic or something like that!
Prolly a Tele:D
I want a Brownface Bassman, and another Park 75 head!

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

Whatever of my guitars through my Egnater Mod 50. I've been so satisfied with this amp for over a year now I think. I don't even think about other amps, and that is really strange!!

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

The more I play my Music Mans, the harder it is to come back to playing a Strat. Plug 'em into my Bogner and stick a delay pedal in the loop = JOYGASM!!!!

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

GJ --> I spot T-Rex pedal.. You cannot have good tone ;) :D

Au Contraire! :biglaugh: You gotta find the goodies in that thing. Like no other pedal, you can plug that thing into an already gainy amp, and sing single notes with infinite sustain, like a 100lb violin.

Or use it in a medium gain amp, and it sounds like a tube amp ready to blow up, with blatty fuzzy undertones that swells into good tone.

It's not the type of OD or Dist you'd use for your staple sound. It's more for dramatic effect.

Re: i've finally reached tonal hapiness (how bout you?)

i got one question. How do all these 1 eyar olds have thousands of dllars worth of gear already? Idon't comprehend it, cause at 16 I had nothing.

well i've got a job and the only expenses i've got are gas money...which is a lot but i get dece gas milage

do the math. i didn't buy this stuff in one week. i've been saving since day one of playing guitar.

and quite honestly, i'm offended by your comments about rich parents. i'm in a middle class family....i do have a job. it's not like i get all of this stuff for free.

think > do
