Ok, after several threads, I have narrowed it down to three different pups: The SSL-1s, the SSL-5s, and the fender fat 50s. I am only replacing the neck and middle. Here is the criteria:

-Powerful
-Bluesey (mostly a blues player!)
-Tolerates distortion well (Johnny winter levels)
-Capable of covering everything from Robert Cray to Eric Johnson
-Also good for classic rock stuff

Thanks!

Ive never used the seymour duncan single coils...for my strat ive always stuck with lace sensors...

hehe, sry to totally diverge from the three you already picked out.

from my experience the lace sensors fit exactly what you are asking for...but im sure some of the SDs do too. some of the other forum dudes will fill you in on them im sure

A pair of SSL-1's is what you need. There's really no need for a hot single for the tones you described.

Re: I've got some ideas: Help me decide!

i agree with Benjy on the SSL-1s. i have a ssl-2 (same as ssl-1 except flat poles) and it can do what u described

Re: I've got some ideas: Help me decide!

I need some more voters! 2 for the SSL1s, but only one vote? Please help me out!
